Molluscum Contagiousum: What every parent should know.
It is a common viral skin infection, that causes small, raised, round bumps on the skin. It is usually harmless and will go away without any treatment. The downside is that it can linger for 15-36 months. Once a lesion pops up, typically another lesion is developing too. Each lesion typically stays on the skin for 3-6 months, but the entire process can take up to 3 years before your child is bump-free.
Molluscum can be spread to others by direct skin-to-skin contact, or by sharing personal items like towels, razors, or sports equipment.
While most cases of molluscum resolve without any treatment, we can help you confirm the cause of your child’s pesky bumps and discuss if any treatment is necessary.
