TRAIL OPEN:
The Tanglefoot Trail is now fully open and operational. Trees and large debris have been moved off the asphalt trail from Houston to New Albany. Falling limbs and small debris continue to be a possibility so be cautious while using the trail. We appreciate your patience.

UPDATE: TRAIL CONDITIONS DUE TO ICE STORM
Trees and large debris have been moved off the trail from Houston going north to the Union County line; however, smaller debris remains and will be cleared as quickly as possible. Sections of the trail in UNION COUNTY are still IMPASSABLE and require heavy equipment to clear. Falling trees and limbs continue to be a possibility and hazard. We are keeping all those impacted by this storm in our thoughts. Be safe and thank you for your patience.

THE TANGLEFOOT TRAIL WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE DUE TO THE ICE STORM THE WEEKEND OF JANUARY 24, 2026. MANY AREAS ARE IMPASSABLE-PARTICULARLY IN UNION AND PONTOTOC COUNTIES. WE WILL UPDATE THIS NOTICE WHEN FURTHER INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE. THANK YOU.

STORM SAFETY NOTICE:
With the incoming storm impacting our area, please use extreme caution on the Trail, while outdoors and when traveling. Wind, snow and ice buildup can cause trees and limbs to fall without warning. A slick Trail surface can be hazardous. If the storm causes fallen trees and debris on the the Trail, we will begin clearing when it is safe to do so. Please stay safe, stay warm and be cautious.

Saturday November 8th! The Tanglefoot Trot race is an annual fundraiser that benefits CATCH Kids, Inc, and is put on by their wonderful volunteers. You can expect to find snacks, smiles, and (hopefully) a sunny morning. The fundraiser directly supports providing FREE healthcare to NE Mississippi’s youth. It’s not too late to join in on the fun for a good cause. You can find out more about CATCH Kids and even make a donation if you can’t participate in the event at https://catch-kids.org/
