Daughters are a source of immeasurable joy for her parents. Long before a daughter is born, she is deeply loved. Daughters are often a mother's best friend, her ally, and her most precious treasure. For a father, a daughter is often the apple of his eye, his princess. It is no surprise that a parent's love for a daughter is so intense and selfless. The death of a son means the loss of more than just a precious life. It represents the loss of future experiences and future hopes. Sons are mothers' emotional protectors and fathers' sources of pride.

For this reason, the loss of a daughter can bring on a range of difficult emotions, including numbness, guilt, anger emptiness, disbelief, and deep sadnes

We are now one week away from Valentine’s Day—it is still a day of love, even for those of us who are grieving, for what is grief but an expression of true love? In honor of Zaria Kennedy we have dedicated ourselves to “14 Acts of Kindness” to remember Zaria, who left us on February 14th 2018!
One week into the campaign, we have been overwhelmed by those of you offering acts of kindness the people around you. The kindness you share will come back to bless you in unexpected ways. Also, you have no idea how much your kindness may mean to someone who is not okay. We will be wearing pink, purple , teal, every chance we get from now until the 14th, and we would love for you to join us in this colorful tribute. Love doesn’t care about the dress code.
The kind acts listed on the flyer below are suggestions, but we encourage you to be creative. Let us honor Zaria’s memory by showing generosity of heart and spirit. And let us spread the joy and love by using the hasahtags when you post photos and videos of your love in action. Tag Zaria’s Footsteps to be entered into raffle to win a $50 giftcard, gift basket, and a purse.
When you post, put the focus on YOU. We DO NOT RECOMMEND posting pictures or videos of homeless persons, persons in shelters, state care facilities, nursing homes, etc. Your smile is all the confirmation we need.

Today’s event at Abraham Lincoln Middle School was a huge success! Special thanks to Ms. Laura Welsh for inviting our CEO, Ms. Kandice Kennedy, to speak to with their students for Wellness Wednesdays! She had an amazing time interacting with students, and the smiles on their faces was well worth it. We look forward to our next visit!

Want to donate Zaria bag items for the 4th annual Holiday Drive, but not sure where to start? Well here’s a guide to help!

We are asking for non-perishable food items, hygiene products, blankets, and/or monetary donations to help fill & distribute at least 75 -100 Z-bags throughout the city! It’s that time of year and we are helping Zaria's Footsteps search for Z’elves to help spread some holiday cheer! 🎄

Ms. Zaria Kennedy held a special place in her heart for those society tends to forget, more specifically the elderly, disabled, special needs community, and the unhoused.

In keeping with their mission to continue Zaria’s work of showing love through action, Zaria’s Footsteps is hosting its 4th annual Holiday Drive! This year the goal is to not only provide holiday meals to those in need, but to also distribute as many Zaria bags (Z-bags) as possible!

This season, we are purchasing gifts cards to bless individuals and families with Luby’s holiday meals, with a goal of raising at least $500. We are also asking for non-perishable food items, hygiene products, blankets, and/or monetary donations to help fill & distribute at least 75 -100 Z-bags throughout the city!
