In this video, Lindsey Vonn talks about a dangerous condition she suffered as a complication of her crash: compartment syndrome.

Compartment syndrome happens when the pressure in a part (or compartment) of the body becomes dangerously high, cutting off blood supply, causing tissues to die.

While compartment syndrome can happen due to trauma, like in Lindsey’s case, it can also happen from chronic overuse and exertion, like with running. Symptoms include numbness, tingling, and loss of strength and function in a limb.

Compartment syndrome is always on my mind, even when my suspicion is low. It’s never off the table until I’m sure there is adequate blood flow to a limb.

That’s why it’s so important to take pulses. I regularly take an athlete’s posterior tibial pulse, and often the dorsal pedal and popliteal.

I’ve seen patients with chronic exertional compartment syndrome, as well as a patient with acute compartment syndrome who had just undergone a fasciotomy with wound vacs on both legs (see Lindsey’s photo in this video!).

This was just a chance to share the differential diagnoses that are always swirling in my head. If you’re working with me and I’m taking the time to assess pulses, now you know why!

Indoor track season is in the books. 📖🏁✨

Just a little extra practice.
Just a little extra experience.
Just a little extra competition.

Just a little extra to carry into outdoor season.🌱☀️

On the way home, we shared our thoughts and impressions from the meet. 🚗💬

All of mine had a little to do with performance, and a lot to do with the things that lie beneath the surface — committment 💪, motivation 🔥, work ethic 🏋️, and positivity. 😊

Here’s a rundown:

Aiden went full send. 🔥 I didn’t have to tell him to give it his all — he did it naturally. In an unfamiliar (and somewhat intimidating) environment 😳, he just went for it in the long jump and 400 meters.🏃‍♂️

Eli threw a near-PR in shot put with no practice 💥 and posted another consistent 60 meter dash ⚡ — both signs of exciting things to come in outdoor. 🌟 He also elevated his teammates with his signature relentless positivity. 🙌 Just a few months ago, Eli suffered a broken leg. Today, we celebrated his consistency and a healthy indoor season. 💪🏻🦴

Aspen ran a fast 400, an event she has never competed in before today. 🏃‍♀️ She accepted the challenge, applying her maturity and experience to a new situation to post a 1:16.⏱️ It’s no wonder she’s a 4x state qualifier in three years. 🏅👏

As a freshman, Macy is heading into her first high school outdoor season ahead of the curve. 📈 She’s earned a well-prepared start to her high school track career.🌟

Peace out, indoor! ✌️❄️ Outdoor, here we come! 🌷☀️

But not before boys and girls basketball districts! 🏀🔥

I took a break from my Olympic schedule for the best reason 🏅💙

Speaking at the BTC Sports Health Summit at Mayville High School 🎤🏫

I had the pleasure of talking with high school student-athletes about female athlete health and the foundations of health and performance 💪👟

We covered three essentials ⬇️

🩸 Periods — why having a period makes you a better athlete

⚡ Pressure — how to manage physical and mental stress from sport

🛡️ Prevention — how to avoid injury and reach peak potential

Most importantly, I got to remind girls that they are strong, capable athletes who deserve excellent care for their bodies — in and out of sport 💖🔥

We also had the privilege of hearing from 🌳 — an inspiring athlete, coach, and speaker. Wow.

BONUS: Found the NH crew! 👀🙌 I know they attended Dr. Hanna Kubacki’s () awesome session on injury prevention, and I can’t wait to hear about their new physical therapy knowledge 🧠🦵

What a great day 🌟

Now, back to the Olympics! ❄️🎿 ⛸️✨

What a night ✨🏀

National Girls & Women in Sports Day at North Huron filled me with pure joy 💖

Letting our girls know how strong, capable, and appreciated they are was a priceless opportunity 💫🙌

Our Warriors took home the win 🏆, with their hallmark sportsmanship on full display 🤝💙 No one cheered louder for the elementary girls than the high school girls! 📣👏

The Go Girls were out in full force 💃🔥, being helpful, joyful and purely themselves 💕🌟

Our elementary girls understood the assignment and crushed halftime 🎶🏀💥 Watching them play with their whole hearts makes me excited for their athletic futures—and for all of us who get to witness it 🥹💫

Many girls received new (well-fitting!) sports bras 👚✨ For some, it was their very first sports bra 💕 Getting to help make that moment a positive one is the whole point of everything 🫶 A very big thank you to for the bra fit guides and tape measures 🙏📏 Every girl got these resources!

Thank you to everyone to attended this special moment 💙✨

💪👧 🚀💖
