Did you know?
Apogee now has an on-site Cardiac PET Lab!

What is a cardiac PET scan?

A PET scan of the heart is a noninvasive nuclear imaging test. It uses radioactive tracers (called radionuclides) to produce pictures of your heart. Doctors use cardiac PET scans to diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD) and damage due to a heart attack. PET scans can show healthy and damaged heart muscle. Doctors also use PET scans to help find out if you will benefit from a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) such as angioplasty and stenting, coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) or another procedure.

Quick Facts

•PET scans use radioactive material called tracers. Tracers mix with your blood and are taken up by your heart muscle.
•A special “gamma” detector that circles the chest picks up signals from the tracer. A computer converts the signals into pictures of your heart at work.
•A PET scan shows if your heart is getting enough blood or if blood flow is reduced because of narrowed arteries. It also shows dead cells (scars) from a prior heart attack.
•A PET scan can help in determining if you’ll benefit from a cardiac procedure (PCI) or surgery to restore blood flow.
•The tracers used for PET scans can help identify injured but still living (viable) heart muscle that might be saved if blood flow is restored.

It's that time of year again 🦃🍁🥐!!!

In this Thanksgiving Season, Apogee Medical Associates, PA is hosting our 4th Annual community- wide Food Drive to spread the Spirit of Gratitude and support those in need.

This year we decided to put a bit of a spin on our outreach mission, we will be collecting clothing items in addition to food items and
while the last 3 years all proceeds went to The Homeless Coalition, this year we would like to split the proceeds evenly amongst the Coalition and other Unsheltered Homeless Communities in our area who are unable to make their way to the Shelter to benefit from your generosity.

Keep in mind, Florida has the 3rd highest homeless population in the United States, of which, of which 45.2% are Unsheltered.
Let's come together to ensure that our community has a warm and nourishing meal and remember, community service is good for the Heart ❤️

Dr. De, Dr. Lakhani and all of your Apogee Family thank you in advance.

Share, Share, Share! 😁

Update from the American Heart Association:

Dear Walkers,

After deliberation with top level leadership at the American Heart Association and our Executive Leadership Team, we have decided to move the Charlotte County Heart Walk to a digital event this year. With a digital event, we are ensuring everyone can join us by walking where they are. This format has worked well in the past in various markets and allows the participants to gather at locations of their choosing across the community. This decision was not something that we took lightly. The American Heart Association has made this decision with the input of our volunteer leaders due, in part, to the ongoing impact of Hurricane Ian to the community.

Our digital event is an easy to participate option where everyone can walk where you would like, whether it be with your family in their neighborhood, at the park with friends, or engaging with your employer. Visit our page (2023 Charlotte County Heart Walk - Digital Event | Facebook) and use the hashtag to share how you are “Walking Where You Are”. We can’t wait to see your photos!

You May still Donate if you wish by clicking the link below.

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premiere event for raising funds to save lives from USA's #1 and #5 killers - heart disease and stroke.
