Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know that the paws of a cat work a lot like our hands? While they don’t have opposable thumbs, cats have incredible flexibility and balance thanks to the soft pads and tiny bones in their paws. Those pads also help them walk silently when they’re “on the prowl.”

Nature’s designs are pretty hands-on amazing!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatment focuses on relieving pressure on the median nerve and reducing symptoms. Early treatment may include wearing a wrist splint, especially at night, to keep the wrist in a neutral position.

The most common signs include numbness, tingling, or a “pins and needles” sensation in the thumb, index, middle, and part of the ring finger.
Many people experience hand weakness, difficulty gripping objects, or frequently dropping things. Symptoms are often worse at night and may wake you from sleep. You might also feel pain that travels from the wrist up the arm.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common condition that causes numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and wrist. It happens when the median nerve gets compressed as it passes through the carpal tunnel, a narrow passageway in the wrist made of bones and ligaments.

Recovery after trigger finger surgery is usually quick and straightforward. Most patients can move their finger soon after the procedure, with soreness improving over days to weeks.

Trigger finger surgery is a quick procedure that releases the tightened tendon to restore smooth finger movement. Dr. Helgemo explains the minor procedure in which a small incision is made to relieve pressure, helping reduce pain, clicking, and locking. Recovery is usually fast, with improved motion and comfort soon after.

Getting treatment for trigger finger early can prevent worsening pain, stiffness, and finger locking. Quick care helps reduce inflammation, improves movement, and may avoid the need for surgery. Leading to faster relief and better long term hand function.

Dr. Helgemo explains treatments that are offered at the Florida Hand Center. Treatment may include steroid injections. In severe cases, a minor surgical procedure can help restore smooth movement.

Trigger finger can cause stiffness and pain in the finger or thumb, especially in the morning. You may feel a clicking or popping sensation when moving the finger. In some cases, the finger can catch or lock in a bent position, making it hard to straighten. Swelling or a small lump at the base of the finger may also appear.

Trigger finger (also called stenosing tenosynovitis) is a condition where a finger or thumb gets stuck or locks when you bend it. It happens when the tendon that helps move the finger becomes irritated or swollen, making it hard to glide smoothly. You might feel pain, stiffness, or a clicking sensation, especially in the morning. In more serious cases, the finger may lock in a bent position and suddenly snap straight.
