On September 11, three Florida NCS teams, from Naples, Sarasota, and Port Charlotte, together participated in Patriot Day at Sarasota National Cemetery to honor and remember the fallen and volunteer to clean headstones.
“Each year the group seems to grow. It is truly a humbling experience,” said Port Charlotte Service Manager Gloria Yanni. “Extra thanks to Karen Taylor, our Sarasota service manager, for providing drinks and snacks to all of the volunteers along with dressing our team to represent.”

"I've spent most of my life just focused on the road ahead, not looking back," Redford said in the acceptance speech for his 2002 honorary Oscar. "But now tonight, I'm seeing in the rearview mirror that there is something I've not thought about much, called history."

Robert Redford has died at 89. He was known for his long career as an actor and director, with films like 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid', 'The Sting', 'All the President's Men' and 'Ordinary People'

As a longtime supporter of the Rotary Club, NCS Port Charlotte was invited to have a table with NCS info and swag at the District 6960 Rotarians’ kick-off event.
Our response: Absolutely!
The event drew a crowd of about 200 participants, along with other business supporters. A great networking event and a great way to spread the word about the services we offer.

NCS Port Charlotte Service Manager Gloria Yanni joined other community members in welcoming new teachers at the annual breakfast organized by the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce. This year there were over 150, and 250 attendees total!
Local businesses are asked to sponsor a teacher’s breakfast and join them, along with providing promotional items that the teachers will find useful and enjoy for their goody bags. The NCS Port Charlotte team provided booklets of post-it notes.
"I was happy to attend, meet some new teachers and find out a little about them, such as what drew them to our area, and if they are a new to teaching or have transferred from another area," Gloria said. "We also congratulated Charlotte County’s 2025-26 teacher of the year, Addison Montgomery. It's always a worthwhile community event!"

The Port Charlotte team “always sponsors the centerpieces to go with the sunflower theme, and provides a fun raffle drawing basket,” Gloria said. “This year the basket was a great beach bag full of beach items and other goodies. The food was delicious, as always, and it was a pleasure to congratulate this year’s award recipient, Sandra Alhbrand, who donated the award money to her charity of choice, Meals on Wheels America."

NCS Port Charlotte Service Manager Gloria Yanni attended the monthly Our Charlotte Elder Affairs Network (OCEAN).
"We had a great turnout of approximately 25 guests/members," Gloria said. "Rather than having a guest speaker, after introducing ourselves and our businesses, we played a fun “get you know you” game so that we could learn more about each other and network more effectively. It was a great time getting to know other community business leaders and learning about local events that may help grow our businesses."

Continuing an annual tradition, NCS Port Charlotte was once again a silver sponsor at Public Safety Appreciation Night in Punta Gorda. There were hors d’oeuvres, a DJ, silent auction and a cocktail party, but the main event was awards honoring local heroes at the State Attorney’s office, the Department of Corrections, Fish & Wildlife Conservation, FHP, local fire, police, and EMTs, and students who were nominated to the Do The Right Thing program. Special thanks to local Rotarians who helped organize this event!

National Cremation Society -Port Charlotte, FL

National Cremation is one of the oldest and largest providers of affordable cremation services in the nation. The Port Charlotte office opened in April, 1987. Cremation arrangements can be as unique and personal as the lives they represent and the lives they continue to touch. Because we understand that the death of someone you love is one of the most difficult and emotional times of your life, we have simplified our process to allow you to make cremation arrangements that fit your needs.

At some point in our lives we all experience a loss. Whether it is the first time you are in this difficult place or you find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of doing it again, we are here to help. It is our honor to guide and assist you through the process. We handle the cremation; associated paperwork, and transportation, with dignity and respect for each individual.
