At Slack Orthodontics, Dr. Maura and her team provide professional, effective, and gentle orthodontic care that creates healthy, confident smiles. We know orthodontic treatment yields more than a healthy bite and straight teeth – it means greater self-confidence and improved self-esteem – care that can truly transform our patients’ quality of life. Dr. Maura provides free initial consultations for both adults and children, and follows the American Association of Orthodontists’ recommendation to begin orthodontic exams for children at age 7. At your first visit we will discuss your unique concerns and review your personalized treatment options. You’ll also learn about our flexible hours (including Saturday appointments) and treatment philosophy to treat each patient with the same kindness, honesty, and consideration as we would hope to be treated ourselves. Our greatest goal is to give you the healthy, confident smile you’ve always wanted. Slack Orthodontics opened in the summer of 2014 when Dr. Maura realized a lifelong dream of owning her own practice. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then attended the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After dental school, Dr. Maura joined the United States Navy as a Commissioned Officer where she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency and proudly served as a general dentist for four years in the Dental Corps. After her service in the Navy, Dr. Maura returned to North Carolina where she completed a 3-year orthodontic specialty training program at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry where she earned both a specialty Certificate and Master of Science in Orthodontics. Her training included traditional braces for children and adults, invisible orthodontics, treatment of orthognathic surgical patients, and management of craniofacial conditions.

It’s time to grow!🌱 This doesn’t happen often - we’re adding a chairside expanded functions dental assistant to our small but mighty team before summer hits!☀️

EFDA and radiology certifications required. Prior p**o or ortho chairside experience ideal but willing to train ortho since we are big about skills/communication consistency throughout our team.

Hours: Mon/Thurs 750-5; Tues/Wed 720-430; flexible on rotating 3 vs full 4 days per week but must be available to work all no-school days and school breaks (our busiest times). Reliability is extremely important since we are a small team.
