Meet Laura Martorano ⭐️ In honor of RDN Day, we are spotlight 2 of our amazing RDNs 🍌🍎🍓

Laura is synonymous with eating healthfully and living well at Stony Brook University, a large public university on Long Island. She leads the dozens of Teaching Kitchens held on campus throughout the year, both encouraging and teaching students how to create great-tasting meals that are also good for them. She created Wellness Snack Boxes themed for heart and brain support, packed with superfood snacks rich in nutrients to boost students’ physical and mental power during final exam periods.

Laura continues to focus on personalizing students who are navigating allergen concerns with their dining experience through digital cookbooks, shopping lists, and nutrition education. She also hosts allergy-awareness training sessions with dining services staff members as the need for allergen safety continues to grow in the education realm.

Laura was the driving force behind initiatives that led to SBU Eats, the campus dining organization, winning national recognition for the Most Innovative Wellness and Nutrition Program from the National Association of College and University Food Service (NACUFS).

Meet Janelle Lacey ⭐️ In honor of RDN Day, we are spotlight 2 of our amazing RDNs! 🍌🍎🍓

For Armando, Black History Month is a time to reflect on the culture and how it has taken shape over the years. His favorite thing to do throughout the month is to enjoy all the festivities.

When asked about who has inspired him the most in his life, he says his dad has always been his biggest role model.

When he thinks of family dishes he enjoyed growing up, he thinks of the dishes his mom always made - Jerk Chicken (his favorite), Curry Chicken, Ackee, Rice and Peas, and their national dish, Salted Cod. He says that food and gathering with family were a vital part of the fabric of their family while he was growing up, and also today.

For Black History Month, Tina Martin wanted to share some photos from her church Black History Celebration.

They celebrated 100 incredible years of Black History in powerful style and song! They sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, which was an experience of dynamic praise and worship.

They also enjoyed each others company with their soul feast, which was as delicious as it looks! 🤤

For Katheryn, Black History Month represents freedom. The freedom our ancestors fought for and the opportunities that continue to grow from their sacrifices.

One of the greatest values passed down in her family is hard work, something Katheryn saw every day in her grandmother.

She was the hardest worker she’s ever known. She was first a teacher in the Dominican Republic, and later a home health aide after moving to New York. “Double pensions, y’all!” Katheryn says. Her resilience and dedication continue to inspire Katheryn.

Food is also at the heart of our family traditions. Her grandmother’s Dominican cake is more than just dessert; it’s a piece of her legacy that brings the family together.

Cooking plays a big “roll” in her family “(like a bread roll, haha)” she says. Her family loves being in the kitchen together, sharing recipes, stories, and those unforgettable kitchen conversations.

And no celebration or feeling of home is complete without habichuela con dulce, a dish that instantly brings warmth, joy, and connection to their table 🍽️ 🥘

6th-grade students in Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s Food Entrepreneurship class recently rolled up their sleeves and got cooking for a cause. The students partnered with Chef Budd Cohen and Springside Chestnut Hill food services, where they prepared and delivered over 20 trays of Penne primavera for a local nonprofit called Face to Face that serves the Germantown community.

The event was held in recognition of Food Education in Action Week. The recipe featured vibrant greens harvested from the Middle School’s hydroponic garden. The students were happy to have this hands-on experience that capped off a trimester-long study of food insecurity, and the guests were absolutely over the moon with the delivery ⭐️

Deon says her biggest inspiration is her dad and her favorite family recipe is her grandma’s ambrosia.

She says in our family, “if we’re gathering, we are eating” and food is how they all connect, celebrate, and show love.

For her, nothing feels more like home than all the traditional Sunday dinner favorites around the table, surrounded by the people who matter most 🍽️

We are proud to announce the launch of CulinArt Cheers, a new associate recognition program powered by Guusto, designed to celebrate the passion, dedication, and excellence of our associates. This program reflects CulinArt’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture where people feel seen, valued, and inspired to thrive 👏

CulinArt Cheers honors the everyday contributions that drive our success through meaningful recognition opportunities, including Axonify point reward opportunities, milestone celebrations, manager acknowledgments, and quarterly nomination-based rewards. Through the manager acknowledgements, the program enables managers to recognize associates with monetary gifts as a tangible token of appreciation for their hard work and impact.

“CulinArt Cheers is about empowering our people, one cheers at a time,” said Peter Witkowski, president of CulinArt Group. “Our associates are the heart of everything we do, and this program is an important investment in recognizing their dedication and excellence. By creating more consistent and meaningful ways to say ‘thank you,’ we are strengthening our culture, reinforcing our values, and supporting the incredible work our teams do every day. I am truly excited to see CulinArt Cheers come to life across our organization.”

The program is designed to foster a culture of care and appreciation, strengthen team spirit, and reinforce CulinArt’s commitment to excellence by ensuring recognition is timely, inclusive, and impactful.

Cassie Catenaccio, café manager at Stryker, who participated in the CulinArt Cheers 8-week pilot program, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative. “I absolutely love CulinArt Cheers,” said Catenaccio. “Having experienced the pilot firsthand, I have seen how powerful meaningful recognition can be. This program makes associates feel appreciated in real time, and I truly believe it will make a significant difference in morale, engagement, and overall associate experience.”

With the launch of CulinArt Cheers, CulinArt Group continues to invest in its people by creating opportunities to celebrate achievements both big and small, reinforcing that recognition is not just a moment, but a mindset!
