BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR PORT DEPOSIT WATER SYSTEM
CECIL COUNTY, MARYLAND
Date: 10-21-2025

Artesian Water Company announces a precautionary boil water advisory to customers served water by the Port Deposit Water system.

Because of a loss of positive pressure in a portion of the water system, a boil water advisory is being issued.

It is recommended that customers boil all water used for cooking, teeth brushing, ice, and drinking until further notice. Customers are advised to bring the water to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute, which is sufficient to ensure the water is safe to use for consumption. After boiling, please remember to let the water cool before use. Ice which has been made within the past 24 hours should not be consumed or used for drinking. The water may be used for bathing and washing without boiling

Artesian Water Company, Cecil County Environmental Health Department, and the Maryland Department of the Environment are monitoring the water system and will lift or revise this advisory as necessary. The advisory is a precautionary measure and will be lifted after water service and quality are fully restored and water quality tests verify the safety of the water supply. This process may take two days.

For more information, residents should call Artesian Water Company at 1-800-332-5114.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Town of Port Deposit Announces New Sign at Little Free Library

Port Deposit, Maryland — October 13, 2025 — The Town of Port Deposit is pleased to announce the installation of a new, beautifully designed sign at the Little Free Library, located at the corner of Center Street and 7 North Main Street near the entrance to the municipal parking lot.

Thanks to the leadership of Councilman Dan Berlin and collaboration with local artist Jessica Kehl, the Little Free Library now features a unique, handcrafted sign that adds charm and local artistic flair to this community spot.

Jessica Kehl, a talented Port Deposit artist, is also known for her work on the Railroad Wall Mural Project at the Dog Park and the sign for the Pocket Rock Park in parking lot 2 — a colorful and inspiring mural and sign that celebrates the town’s history and creative spirit. Her new sign continues her mission of bringing beauty and storytelling into public spaces throughout Port Deposit.

The Port Deposit Little Free Library is an official registered member of Little Free Library®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access worldwide through a network of volunteer-led book-sharing boxes. Our library serves as a vibrant symbol of Port Deposit’s commitment to creativity, literacy, and connection.

“We’re thrilled to showcase another piece of Jessica’s artistry in our town,” said Mayor Tome, Jr. “We also want to thank Councilman Berlin for his commitment to fostering literacy and local art initiatives that make Port Deposit such a special place to live.”

Residents are encouraged to stop by, admire the new sign, and take or leave a book at the Little Free Library — a small but meaningful reminder that community thrives when we share together.
