🟣 8 common bacterial skin infections
🟣 1) Impetigo
➟ Common signs are honey-colored crusts, red sores, and itching, often around the nose and mouth.
➟ It is especially common in children and is contagious.
🟣 2) Cellulitis
➟ Usually causes red skin, swelling, warmth, and pain or tenderness.
➟ It often affects the legs and usually needs medical attention, especially if it is spreading or comes with fever.
🟣 3) Folliculitis
➟ Folliculitis causes small red bumps or pimples around hair follicles, sometimes with pus-filled spots, itching, burning, or soreness.
➟ It may happen after shaving, friction, sweating, or bacterial infection.
🟣 4) Boil (Furuncle)
➟ A boil is a painful, red, swollen lump with a pus collection under the skin.
➟ It happens when a hair follicle becomes deeply infected, usually with bacteria.
🟣 5) Carbuncle
➟ A carbuncle is a cluster of connected boils.
➟ It is usually more painful, more swollen, and more severe than a single boil and may drain pus.
🟣 6) Erythrasma
➟ Erythrasma usually causes brown-red patches with mild scaling, often in skin folds like the armpits or groin.
➟ Mild itching can happen, and it is caused by Corynebacterium bacteria.
🟣 7) Erysipelas
➟ Erysipelas usually appears as a bright red, swollen, painful patch with a raised, well-defined border.
➟ Fever can happen, and it is a superficial type of bacterial skin infection related to cellulitis.
🟣 8)Paronychia
➟ Paronychia is an infection of the skin around the nail.
➟ It commonly causes redness, swelling, pain, and sometimes pus near the nail edge.
🟣 Important note
➟ Some of these infections can look similar, but cellulitis, erysipelas, boils, and carbuncles can become more serious and may need treatment from a doctor.
➟ See a doctor if there is spreading redness, severe pain, fever, pus, repeated infections, or swelling that is getting worse.
