Mindfulness and Wellbeing I love to see people learn how to live happier, healthier and more connected lives. In 2 years it comprehensively covers various types of meditation.

This is the page of Building Blocks Healing Center PLLC which provides mindfulness classes, retreats, body work and wellness education. My name is Joanna and I am a Mindfulness Teacher certified by MMTCP (Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program) lead by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. I’m also a doctor of Physical Therapy and since 1995 have been working primarily to help people with neck pain and headaches. My intention is to alleviate some pain and anxiety in our world today.

This wonderful place is right in our backyard!!!

If you feel like you need to slow down and be outside, forest bathing might be exactly what you’re looking for.

About 15 miles north of Port Huron, there’s a quiet spot called Owl Pines. It’s a 40-acre forest space where you can unplug and spend time in nature.

They have guided forest walks and forest bathing sessions on an ANFT-certified forest therapy trail. That basically means the trail was designed to support a calm, immersive nature experience. The paths are gentle and easy to walk, the forest is healthy and diverse, and the environment is quiet enough that you can actually hear the wind, birds, and the forest around you, and it's the only one in Michigan.

During the guided walk, you move slowly through the woods, notice what’s around you, breathe, and give your nervous system a chance to settle. It’s less about distance and more about using your senses and reconnecting with the natural world.

They have events starting in April, such as spring meditation, yoga, and forest walks. Bonus, they are dog-friendly, with booked sessions, so your four-legged buddy can come along.

I’m Joanna and the class I offer is an introduction to meditation which teaches various types of practices along with an explanation of their benefits. I also present current scientific findings of how these practices influence our health, both physically and psychologically. While it is not a substitute for any medical or psychological care, it is a useful adjunct that may support you on your quest for a better experience of life.

6 week classes go over various objects of focused meditation, loving intentions and open awareness. They provide recorded meditations to practice with, and handouts. They are in-person but also available on zoom for friends out of town or when you have to miss a session.
Cost is $100.00 and is a pledge of intention to learn. Scholarships are available if needed.
