Thank you to all the amazing clients and families I’ve had the opportunity to work with through Purposeful Play Occupational Therapy. 💛 It’s been such a rewarding experience helping children grow, learn, and thrive through play. I’ve decided to take a pause for now to spend more time with family and begin a new chapter. Keep playing, learning, and growing!

🪁 Why so many swings in OT?
During therapy, I do my best to engage at least 3 sensory systems—vestibular (movement & balance), proprioception (muscles & joints), and tactile (touch).

By moving from swing to swing without touching the ground—our version of the classic “hot lava” game—kids are working on:
✨ Problem solving
✨ Strength
✨ Coordination
✨ Balance

This playful challenge is especially beneficial for children with sensory processing difficulties, ADHD, or ASD. It may look like fun, but it’s also evidence-based therapy through purposeful play. 💙

Mr. MouthThis one’s a favorit e of mine—and the kids love it too! Mr. Mouth is great for building hand-eye coordination, motor planning, finger isolation, and visual tracking. It’s also a fun way to practice turn-taking and attention. A great game to try at home if you’re looking for something that’s both playful and skill-building!

Looking for a fun way to work on hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and quick thinking? The classic game Bed Bugs is a fast-paced favorite in my OT sessions! Kids use tweezers to grab the “bugs” as they wiggle and jump around—great for pinch strength, visual tracking, and motor planning. 🚨 Heads up: Some kids find it a little loud, so I sometimes place a towel under the game to muffle the noise. But for those who love the challenge, it’s a hit!🎥 Check out this quick video of the game in action!
