Maryhaven creates welcoming environments where people with special needs may reach their highest potential and enjoy a life full of dignity, purpose, and inclusion. Maryhaven’s Residential Programs are family-like group homes and apartment-style communities where adults with special needs can live an independent, purposeful life with support. In addition to providing housing, we support attaining the highest quality of life and personal growth by offering life skills and job training opportunities through our Day Habilitation, Vocational Training, and Supportive Work Programs.

🏆February Living the Mission Award Winner🏆

Maryhaven was excited to celebrate Tammy Wagner from our HR department for February's mission award. Tammy has been both passionate and effective in her roles at Maryhaven that have enriched the lives of our individuals. Through her work as our fiscal review specialist, she drove the principles of community integration, individualism and choice as she provided quality oversight of how individuals spend their money. After joining our human resources department, Tammy continued to uphold the safety and well-being of our individuals working collaboratively with the agency safety committee to ensure a safe and home like atmosphere for our individuals. In her role as human resource generalist, she has enhanced recruitment efforts through her work with a online platform Glassdoor, as well as being an integral part of Maryhaven being recognized as one of Long Island's top workplace in 2025. Tammy has always found a way to embody the values of our organization in each of her roles at Maryhaven. We congratulate you Tammy on embodying Maryhaven's mission.

The recreation committee hosted its first annual Valentines dinner honoring the love between Maryhaven couples, and friends alike!

Our residents enjoyed music orchestrated, compiled and sang by Christina and Joey. Our hostess, Wellness Coordinator Kristie, seated our guests with menus, and then they were served dinner and dessert by our wonderful waiters Rob, Deanna, Danielle, Diana, and Megan.

A wonderful meal was shared, and dancing was had, all to celebrate Love this Valentines day!

From snow day fun at Saturday Rec—hot chocolate, cookies, penguin crafts, and even making their own snow—to Valentine’s door decorating at Day Hab 101, love and creativity were everywhere. The last few weeks wrapped up with an indoor Cosmic Bowling Alley, bringing all the fun without braving the cold. Proof that a little creativity goes a long way!

🏆January's Living the Mission Award Winner🏆

Bridgette Brodmerkel received the January Living the mission award. She is the assistant manager at the Crestwood Ira. She is one of the most hard-working staff at Maryhaven. Bridget is a team player and works especially close with the nursing and clinical department to make sure all the individuals at the Crestwood Ira receive the care that they need. She cares for them as if they were family. Bridget goes above and beyond and continues to be a great support to the manager and the rest of the team that care for the individuals at the home.

We’re excited to share how a new investment in technology is creating more meaningful employment opportunities at Maryhaven 💙

Thanks to an $11,000 matching grant from NYSID, our Integrated Business Center (IBC) in Yaphank added a new high-capacity document scanner—doubling the impact with a $22,000 total investment!

This new equipment opens the door to adaptable job roles like document prep, scanning, indexing, and quality control—supporting individuals of all ability levels as they build skills, confidence, and independence.

Our Story

Maryhaven is a nonprofit, Long Island based agency committed to helping persons with special needs including intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities, and/or substance abuse/dependence issues realize their full potential, without regard to age, race and/or religious beliefs. The agency’s purpose is to establish, maintain and operate progressive programs and services which are residential, educational, vocational and rehabilitative in nature. The ideal goal is the attainment of normalization, in all aspects of life, for each individual in our care.
