Maryhaven creates welcoming environments where people with special needs may reach their highest potential and enjoy a life full of dignity, purpose, and inclusion. Maryhaven’s Residential Programs are family-like group homes and apartment-style communities where adults with special needs can live an independent, purposeful life with support. In addition to providing housing, we support attaining the highest quality of life and personal growth by offering life skills and job training opportunities through our Day Habilitation, Vocational Training, and Supportive Work Programs.

🌟October's Living the Mission Award Winner🌟

Tina DiOrio, manager at Piper Court IRA received the "Living the Mission Award" for October. Tina demonstrated outstanding dedication and teamwork in managing two residential sites despite personal challenges. She successfully stepped in to manage a high-acuity site after its manager left, exceeded expectations in handling both sites, ensured community engagement for the individuals, and supported the new manager's transition. Her genuine care for the individuals and commitment to their well-being exemplify why she deserves this award.

🎃 We had a great Halloween weekend at Maryhaven! 👻
Check out how our programs celebrated with creativity, fun, and plenty of spooky spirit!

🚗 Trunk or Treat 2025 brought together residents, families, and staff for an afternoon of candy, costumes, and community! Everyone went all out with their trunk decorations — it was the perfect way to wrap up our Halloween celebrations.

🎭 Performing Arts got into the Halloween spirit with a variety of activities — putting on their incredible production of The Addams Family, decorating pumpkins, and joining in the Trunk or Treat festivities!

🎓 Higher Learning had a fantastic Halloween filled with treats, laughter, and festive fun!

🪆 The Staff Engagement Committee held their first-ever Scarecrow Contest, and it was a huge success! The scarecrows added a festive touch to our annual Trunk or Treat event. Congratulations to Crestwood IRA for taking home the win, and thank you to everyone who participated!

We’ve been keeping busy at Maryhaven — here’s a look at some of the wonderful things we’ve been up to!

🏀✨ What an incredible basketball season we’ve had! This year has been filled with dedication, teamwork, and countless inspiring moments from our amazing players. Each game showed not only their growing skills on the court, but also the joy, determination, and HEART that make this league so special. We are so proud of every single player who gave their best each game.

Our League logo, Hoops with Heart represents the strength of our players and the bright future of our league. It is a symbol of everything we’ve built together and the exciting seasons still to come.

Thank you to our players, coaches, and supporters that made this season so successful. We can’t wait to see what next season brings! 💙

🍕👏 On top of that, our Terryville team wrapped up DSP Week with a staff appreciation lunch full of pizza, salad, and smiles — a great way to celebrate an amazing week.

🤝💼 We also hosted an Employee Resource Fair, giving our staff access to helpful vendors and support services.

Our Story

Maryhaven is a nonprofit, Long Island based agency committed to helping persons with special needs including intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities, and/or substance abuse/dependence issues realize their full potential, without regard to age, race and/or religious beliefs. The agency’s purpose is to establish, maintain and operate progressive programs and services which are residential, educational, vocational and rehabilitative in nature. The ideal goal is the attainment of normalization, in all aspects of life, for each individual in our care.
