Meet Maggie, a wildlife rehabilitation expert who gives injured animals a second chance. But recently, Maggie needed rescuing herself. Severe hip arthritis left her in constant pain, unable to continue her vital work.

Thanks to Mather Hospital's exceptional Orthopedic Surgery Program, Maggie received a double total hip replacement. "It is really a miracle. The alternative would be to end up in a wheelchair," she shares.

Now, at 68, Maggie is pain-free and back to doing what she loves – saving animals, just like Mather saved her!

Stories like Maggie's are a testament to the power of exceptional care, made possible by YOUR generosity.

Teams learned about Mather's status as a Stroke Center of Excellence, our state-of-the-art Emergency Department, cutting-edge Cath Lab and robust Orthopedic programs, all focusing on streamlined patient care. Practical skills were key, with hands-on training for improved patient transport. The day also included a competitive EMS-themed escape room – a true test of teamwork and ingenuity!

Our sincere thanks to all the EMS professionals from Coram, Setauket, Selden, Port Jefferson and Islip Exchange who joined us. Your partnership is vital for delivering top-tier patient care in our community, and we value every opportunity to work together!
