Community Thank You – Mutual Aid Partners

Port Matilda EMS would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Port Matilda Volunteer Fire Company and Mount Nittany Medical EMS for their professionalism, teamwork, and support during this weekend’s severe winter weather incident.

Emergency responses like this remind us that no agency stands alone. It is the coordination, trust, and shared commitment between EMS and fire services that allow patients to receive care—even in the most difficult conditions.

We are grateful to serve alongside partners who put safety, service, and community first.

Thank you for always being there when it matters most.

Public Acknowledgment – PMEMS Crew
At the height of this weekend’s massive snowstorm, while most of us were sheltering indoors and hoping not to have to venture out, the tones dropped for Port Matilda EMS.
The call was for a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
Despite blizzard conditions, bitter cold, and hazardous roads, our crews did not hesitate. They responded immediately, provided care on scene, and safely transported the patient to the hospital—fighting snow, wind, and cold every mile of the way.
As Captain of PMEMS, I know this story is not unique to us. EMS agencies across our region and throughout Pennsylvania take these same risks every single day, especially during extreme weather, to serve their communities. Too often, the sacrifices made by EMS providers go unrecognized.
Those of us in EMS understand that we do this job to serve—not for recognition. But it is important, especially after a weekend like this, to pause and acknowledge the commitment it takes to leave the safety of home, put on the uniform, and respond when others cannot or will not.
As temperatures remain dangerously cold this week, I ask our community to take a moment to remember that there is a group of people, your local EMS providers—who will still answer the call, regardless of the conditions.
To our PMEMS crews, and to all EMS providers everywhere: thank you for your courage, professionalism, and dedication to service.
