I don’t judge, really I don’t. 👀
People don’t know what they don’t know, and the deceptive “heart healthy” packaging and low low cost gets them every time!
But y’all… CANOLA OIL CHOSE VIOLENCE.
Let’s do some debunking…
Myth #1 - Canola Oil is heart healthy.
TRUTH - It’s unstable polyunsaturated fats oxidize easily, which PROMOTES arterial inflammation and plaque formation, the very process that drives heart disease.
MYTH #2 - It’s natural and plant based.
TRUTH - Over 90% of canola crops are genetically modified and heavily sprayed with glyphosate. The oil undergoes refining, bleaching, and deodorizing, using high heat and chemical solvents (like hexane) during production. There’s nothing “natural” about the final product.
MYTH #3 - Canola oil is great for cooking!
TRUTH - It is chemically unstable and breaks down under heat, even light sautéing, producing toxic compounds linked to DNA damage, neurodegeneration, and metabolic dysfunction.
Better alternatives for high heat cooking: coconut oil, butter/ghee, beef tallow, avocado oil.
For salads and low heat: extra virgin olive oil, macadamia oil.
