There is so much pressure and so many marketing messages about how to “get our body back” after babies. ✨Our bodies have changed, transformed, and accomplished one of the greatest physical and emotional feats possible during pregnancy and birth. Why are we erasing that. ✨We need to change the conversation and change the expectation for women to bounce back. We instead need to look at how we can bounce forward with compassion, love and awe at all that our bodies can do. ✨I love this post from about how this pressure and mindset affects us. . . .
Let’s look at reasons why diets/disordered eating/eating disorders emerge following pregnancy. First: Our culture is obsessed with looking like we never had kids - and as quickly as possible after giving birth. Before that, there’s even pressure to look like you are only pregnant in your stomach. What an unrealistic goal for most, that’s not something we have control of.
Next let’s throw in four trimesters of constant body comments made by your closest family, friends, doctors, and strangers. You’re already hyper aware of the changes in your body and now you know what everyone else thinks about it. Even the positive, well intentioned comments can impact our body image.
Here’s the thing, dieting is a life thief and 1 in 4 people who go on a diet will develop an eating disorder. They are the best distractions from something really difficult - like a huge change in your identity as a person, a parent, a partner... add in a lack of restful sleep, inconsistent feeding, hygiene, and personal space, turn up the volume on that Shame voice telling you you’re a bad mom, oh, and don’t forget to throw in the anger and resentment of the unequal division of parenting responsibilities or disappointment of how your partner is adjusting to this new role. This is probably one of the most difficult things you’ve ever experienced. . . .
Molly is an HAES therapist and has a great book about intuitive eating that offers guidance on navigating this process. 💕 .

It is frustrating that so many women are given this information by their healthcare provider without any consideration for their current lifestyle or information on how to do so safely. It is unrealistic to think any mom could ever get through an entire day without lifting something that weighs more than 20 pounds. This is where the mindset shift needs to occur. Pregnancy should not be viewed as a time of weakness but a time of newfound strength. We are here to help you learn how to properly lift and move objects no matter where you are in your motherhood journey.

Excuses are undeniably easy to make, gains are undeniably hard to earn. Today I am grateful for a CrossFit family that allowed me to bring my little workout partner with me after a long night ❤️

This is a magazine cover that was sent to me from Sweden. So much raw and unfiltered beauty in this photo. Excited to see that the message is slowly changing. Still a lot of work to do but progress is progress. A few things I love about this...
1. Mama is totally rocking her postpartum bikini body, soft tummy and stretch marks included.
2. The media isn’t trying to portray some unattainable, photoshopped image of what a woman’s body should look like after kids.
3. The headline “real life mama body” is just so damn relatable and cool especially compared to a lot of the crap we see here in America.

At 38 weeks, baby is getting ready to make her grand entrance in the next few weeks and mama’s been feeling some extra pressure. After some light movement, she got hooked up with our go to technique and felt immediate relief. Having a certified provider on staff definitely has its perks.

Inspiring the next generation.
