So today we say goodbye to Shelby after 30 years of service at this office, as she heads off into retirement. She started in this office for Dr. Bob Pilger nearly 10 years before I even arrived…which was about the time I was starting my Spring Quarter as a first year dental student! 😀 So suffice it to say, she’s been in this business longer than me.

Shelby started as one of my chairside assistants until she took over duties as treatment coordinator 11 years ago. But no matter what she was doing, she’s always been an important member of my team, someone I respect and trust. Farewell Shelby, and thank you for all of your hard work in helping take care of our patients!

Dear Patients,
While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.. You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff.

• If you are sick or have been in contact with a COVID positive person please call and reschedule your dental appointment

• When you arrive at our dental office please stay in your car and phone 360-871-0788 OR text back the # associated with your appointment reminder to say you have arrived. If you do not have a cell phone please come on and wait in the reduced waiting room with a mask.

• Upon entering the office wear a MASK and use the hand sanitizer provided at the front table.

• We will take your temperature before starting dental treatment

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA/WISHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty. We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Sincerely,

Dr. Malidore and Team

Dear Patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA/WISHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 360-871-0788 or visit our website at drewmalidoredds.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,

Dr. Malidore and Team

Inslee orders halt to elective surgeries and dental services to reserve critical equipment for COVID-19 health care workers
March 19, 2020
Story
Inslee announced new restrictions today on non-urgent medical and dental procedures so the state can make sure Washington health care workers have enough protective equipment to wear as they work the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s order applies to any non-urgent procedure that requires medical professionals to wear personal protective equipment.

This impacts all hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and dental, orthodontic and endodontic offices in Washington. The governor’s proclamation makes clear that this restriction does not apply to treatment for patients with emergency and urgent needs.

There are exceptions. For example, doctors can perform an elective surgery if delaying the surgery would cause harm to the patient within the next three months.

“We know the health care personal protective equipment supply chain in Washington has been severely disrupted by the significant increased use of such equipment worldwide,” Inslee said. “We will do all we can to protect the women and men who protect us.”

Banned procedures include (but are not limited to):

most joint replacements
most cataract and lens surgeries
non-urgent cardiac procedures
cosmetic procedures
some endoscopy
some interventional radiology services
This order does not apply to patients with heart attacks, strokes or motor vehicle accidents. Hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers may perform surgery as long as a delay or cancellation would worsen the patient’s condition. For example, the prohibition would not apply to a patient who needs a serious cancerous tumor removed, or a patient who needs their dentist to relieve pain or manage an infection.

Inslee encourages ambulatory surgery centers to work with their local hospitals and assist with surge capacity needs.

“We’ve come together to make intense sacrifices over the past week or two,” Inslee said. “And I thank all of you for what you’re doing. Today’s crucial announcement is another way we can protect the health of our communities and families, and slow the spread of this virus so our health care systems have a fighting chance to catch up and continue keeping us healthy.”

For more detailed information, we encourage practitioners to reach out to their specific associations, boards or commissions.

Our office is currently closed due to COVID-19. We are currently answering phone calls remotely Mon-Fri from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. If this is a dental emergency please contact Dr. Malidore’s office at 360-871-0788 and follow the instructions on the voicemail.
The current concern with COVID-19 is spread of the disease from asymptomatic carriers to non-carriers; hence the recommendations for limited contact between people and delay of elective procedures. We will be contacting patients to reschedule after we are guided by Governor Inslee to reopen.

Some of our patients have been asking whether they should go to regularly scheduled medical and dental appointments. The following is a statement from the Department of Health responding to this question:

I have a regularly scheduled doctor or dental appointment. Should I go?
The best thing for your health is to keep up with your regularly scheduled check-ups – medical, mental health, and dental. However, if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 but have not had close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, follow our guidance on self-quarantine at https://www.doh.wa.gov/

If you have any questions please call our office at 360-871-0788
