So much of what we call “addiction” is really a child still trying to soothe wounds they were never helped to heal.
Jung understood this long before we had the language for trauma, attachment, or emotional neglect.

As a social worker, I see it every day: People aren’t addicted to substances, they’re addicted to relief, to escape, to the moment their nervous system finally stops screaming.
