The focus of the Christian faith is not the work we do, but the work God has done for us in the person of Jesus. I wish I could say I surrender all to Jesus. I can't. Neither can you. What I can say is that Jesus surrendered all for me. We keep forgetting what Christianity is all about: not being good, but being forgiven because we are not good.
Most of us, especially Americans get easily caught up in the business of achievement. We work hard to accomplish the goals we set for ourselves and our families. This by itself is not a problem; honest work provides all of us the means to meet our basic survival needs. The problem begins when we make our work and our achievement the primary focus of our life to the exclusion of our families and other things that should have a prominent place in our life. Right there we break the first commandment you shall not have any Gods before me. It is proper that we work to live, it is not right when we live to work. When work is all we live for we forget to observe the miracle of life itself.

The word of God says You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong? Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves but are not rich in what matters to God." The message here is that none of us are promised tomorrow so we need to experience every day to the best of our ability. Each day we need to give thanks to God for the gift of life and strive to glorify Him in the way we live our lives. We should strive to store up heavenly treasures rather than focus on earthly treasures. But more than that, we should live our lives to the fullest in God. We all want God on our terms. There is only one God and went to the cross in a brutal death just so that we can live and we spit in His face daily. We act like if God is this thing on a shelf that we can grab when we need it. Unfortunately sad to say we will all have to stand before Him sooner or later and the hardest words to hear is get away from me I never knew you. All God is asking you for is repentance and a new relationship with the one who made you and gives you breath each day. As much as we want to suppress the truth it will always be truth and come back to haunt you. There is no set of rules that we have to follow before coming to Him. He does the changing he says come as you are. Tomorrow isn't promised worship and glorify your creator while you have the chance.

Jesus Christ is the only One who could recover man’s destiny.

The ultimate curse of our lost destiny is death. God warned Adam that if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he would die (Gen. 2:17). In the restored kingdom we will be elevated again over a redeemed earth. But the only way that we could ever reign again as kings was to have the curse of sin removed, and the only way to remove it was to pay the penalty of sin, which is death (Rom. 6:23).

There's just one problem: how can we reign if we are dead? We need to be raised from the dead, but we certainly can't do that ourselves. That's why God sent Jesus Christ.

To accomplish this great work for us, Jesus had to become a man. He Himself had to be made "for a little while lower than the angels." To regain man's dominion He had to taste death for every man. Christ came to die for us because in His dying He could conquer death.

But He was also raised from the dead: "Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him" (Rom. 6:9). How does that help us? "If we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection" (v. 5).

The moment you put your faith in Christ, you are identified with Him. You died with Him on the cross, you were resurrected, and you began to walk in newness of life. You now are a joint heir with Christ in His eternal kingdom.

Christ tasted death for you and me so we could recover our lost destiny. Celebrate that glorious truth as you celebrate His birth today.

One day we will all have to stand before a holy God and give an account for our lives. (Hebrew 9:27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.)
You see we judge ourselves according to other men and point fingers and say,"well I'm not as bad as him" but our standard of judgement is Jesus Christ. (8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.) A little white lie is just as bad as the crimes that hi**er committed if we don't repent. (James 2:10
"For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.")
Sin is a disease that affects your mind, body, and soul. It leaves you in bo***ge to the gods of this world. But Jesus Christ died a brutal death to free us from that bo***ge. He was accused of lying, cheating, adultery and every other sin that we are guilty of, although he was a sinless man. He took the wrath that we deserve. 2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2000 years ago He was beaten, tortured, and mocked for those who put their trust in Him. If you pray ask yourself who are you praying to and does He even know you. The scariest thing to hear on that day is Matt 7:23 I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’Turn from the life you live without CHRIST! Repent and believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! It's not enough to just say you believe. You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. (James 2:19) Be blessed!!!
Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

You have a great problem, a terrifying problem. God is good, and you are evil. And because He is good, and loving, He must deal with evil, loveless people like you. Christ did suffer physically, that was a part of our redemption. It was necessary. We had to be saved by a bloody sacrifice. But, if you leave it there, you have not taught the people anything about the cross. It was Christ on that tree who reached up and took the cup of the wrath of God out of the hand of God and drank it in the place of his people.
Jesus Christ did not shed his blood for you so that the very first thing you see when you walk into glory is a scowl on His [God] face because of all your failures. There is a voice … there is always a voice, taking everything you think about yourself and using it to drive you away from Christ. Any voice that under any circumstance drives you away from Jesus Christ is the voice of the deceiver. If you give them a God made in their own image, I guarantee they’ll accept Him. But He won’t be the God who saves.
The only way you could ever be blessed in anything, is because He [Christ] died cursed in everything. That blessing of yours that you boast of, and rightly so … think of the cost every time if rolls off your lips. We can so easily spot the tiniest error in the life of another man, but we ourselves can commit the greatest atrocities against God … the most heinous crimes, and be totally, totally ignorant to it.
You will draw your next breath only because God gives it. He [God] needs nothing from you, so Him calling you to Himself, asking you to come and serve is not a need to be fulfilled, He’s offering you a privilege. He [God] offers you the privilege to know Him, to enter into a relationship with Him, and to follow Him with everything!
The evidence of your salvation is going to be God beginning to work in your life, directing you towards scripture, pointing out sin in your life, making you contrite. Truth is meant to wound. You say, “My life’s not complete.” Of course not! You live in a fallen world. You’ve been recreated and the only one who can satisfy you is Christ and that’s why it’s useless to go to other things. Because sanctification is progressive, you will spend the greater part of your life chasing other things. And those other things will leave you empty and that is why ‘the why’ of trials. ~Paul Washer

I Will Rise

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

Cheer up! you are much worse than you think… and God’s grace is much greater than you can imagine.
God is not in love with some future version of you. It’s not you tomorrow that He loves and delights in. It’s not you when you get your act together….If you believe that Christ’s love for you is a future love for you, then you dismiss the cross of Christ. God gives gifts to all men. Whether you believe in God or not, you are living, walking, and wearing his stuff. He gives gifts to all, but only the children of God, only those who believe in Jesus, receive the gift of lasting enjoyment. Why? Because if we're oriented around Jesus, our satisfaction is not tied to anything but him. We can actually enjoy God's good gifts the way they're designed to be enjoyed, because they are in orbit around the right sun-not our self, but our Savior.
If you wonder why you choose to worship other gods rather than wholeheartedly devote yourself to the Lord you love, examine the thought and desires that captivate your heart. That’s where you’ll find the answer to every sin and failure in your life. Don’t be deceived into thinking that you need to develop more willpower. We need to develop godly thoughts and desires.
How quickly self rises to the surface, and the instrument is ready to believe he is something more than an instrument! How sadly easy it is to make of the very service God entrusts us with a pedestal on which to display ourselves. But God will not share His glory with another, and therefore does He "hide" those who may be tempted to take some of it unto themselves. It is only by retiring from public view and getting alone with God that we can learn our own nothingness. It is easy to see that you and I have been created to worship. We’re flat-out desperate for it. From sports fanaticism to celebrity tabloids to all the other strange sorts of voyeurisms now normative in our culture, we evidence that we were created to look at something beyond ourselves and marvel at it, desire it, like it with zeal, and love it with affection. Our thoughts, our desires, and our behaviors are always oriented around something, which means we are always worshiping — ascribing worth to — something. If it’s not God, we are engaging in idolatry. But either way, there is no way to turn the worship switch in our hearts off.
No change of job, no increased income, no new home, no new electronic device, or no new spouse is going to make things better inside of you. All human problems are ultimately symptoms, and our separation from God is the cause. When pain & suffering come upon us, we finally see not only that we are not in control of our lives but that we never were. -T. K.-

The Greatest Salvation Imaginable

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah . . . ” (Jeremiah 31:31)

God is just and holy and separated from sinners like us. This is our main problem at Christmas — and every other season. How shall we get right with a just and holy God?

Nevertheless, God is merciful and has promised in Jeremiah 31 (five hundred years before Christ) that someday he would do something new. He would replace shadows with the Reality of the Messiah. And he would powerfully move into our lives and write his will on our hearts so that we are not constrained from outside, but are willing from inside, to love him and trust him and follow him.

That would be the greatest salvation imaginable — if God should offer us the greatest Reality in the universe to enjoy and then move in us to know that Reality in such a way that we could enjoy it with the greatest freedom and the greatest pleasure possible. That would be a Christmas gift worth singing about.

That is, in fact, what he promised in the new covenant. But there was a huge obstacle. Our sin. Our separation from God because of our unrighteousness.

How shall a holy and just God treat us sinners with so much kindness as to give us the greatest Reality in the universe (his Son) to enjoy with the greatest possible joy?

The answer is that God put our sins on his Son, and judged them there, so that he could put them out of his mind, and deal with us mercifully and remain just and holy at the same time. Hebrews 9:28 says Christ was “offered once to bear the sins of many.”

Christ bore our sins in his own body when he died (1 Peter 2:24). He took our judgment (Romans 8:3). He canceled our guilt (Romans 8:1). And that means our sins are gone (Acts 10:43). They do not remain in God’s mind as a basis for condemnation. In that sense, he “forgets” them (Jeremiah 31:34). They are consumed in the death of Christ.

Which means that God is now free, in his justice, to lavish us with the all the unspeakably great new covenant promises. He gives us Christ, the greatest Reality in the universe, for our enjoyment. And he writes his own will — his own heart — on our hearts so that we can love Christ and trust Christ and follow Christ from the inside out, with freedom and joy.
