Wish for today!

May each of us find the room and space to make peace with what is. To allow what is to become the blessings that will be in divinely timed grace.

What do you hold dear? What is your ?

It might vary for each person, but one thing is sure. We can cultivate these positive traits and deepen our lives by living in respect for and with those around us.

Putting Virtue Into Practice Therefore, it is helpful to build for ourselves a list of virtues that are important to us, as did Benjamin Franklin. But unlike Franklin, who strove to make himself “morally perfect,” our list is to help us focus on the Holy Spirit’s writing of God’s law on o...

Best Friend

"When we are satisfied with our life, we do not look for experiences of winning and losing to define our self-worth." ~Unknown

Lately, it has come to my attention that the things that used to upset me-no- devastate me- just don't have the same effect on me anymore. I don't get upset anymore from the little slights and disappointments from others that used to profoundly hurt my heart. As a little girl, I was told that I was "just too sensitive." Reflecting back has brought out just how far I've come.

Right from the start, I want to clarify that this does not mean that I have no boundaries or feelings—Au contraire. If anything, my boundaries are infinitely better, and my reactions much healthier. Not being overly reliant on others' opinions or needing their acceptance has made it easier to ask for what I need and refuse to take part in anything that does not serve my time or well-being.

I feel deeply, perhaps even more deeply but also more expansively. It's much easier to bend like a willow in the wind during times of difficulties or disappoints rather than getting knocked down or knocked out by others' actions.

Part of the change is, no doubt, due to the processes I've Invited into my life, the self- exploration and radical honesty I've chosen for myself. Being reflective by nature, it seemed natural to meditate, do energy work, breathwork, periods of therapy, and anything that promoted and continues to encourage self-awareness. This includes meeting my inner children and welcoming them into my awareness, learning to listen, and care for them. Doing this, I learned to trust myself and my inner knowing and understand that what others did was much more about their inner workings, perceptions, suffering, and needs than anything to do with me. So self-doubt and deprecation turned to self-assuredness and personal responsibility. There is strength in that. When there are inner strength and resilience, we don't need to 'win' over anyone or fear 'losing' ourselves to another.

"Never forget that once upon a time, in an unguarded moment, you recognized yourself as a friend."

Do you need a little help to turn things around?

Sometimes life doesn't work out the way you think, but that doesn't mean it isn't working. There will be times when it feels too hard. These are the times you need to keep going. Endings allow space for change. What would you like to see fill those empty spaces?

Who do you want to be? What does your next chapter hold?

You get to decide. If you want help on your journey, call Carol Baxter at (772)359-8924.

Loss – is an inevitable part of the journey we call life. These last 7 months have amplified our losses, compiling one on top of the other in a cascade of shock, disappointment, and grief. We have collectively lost jobs, businesses, savings, homes -a sense of safety and the comfort of knowing that we could secure a dependable level of comfort and stability for ourselves and our families if we took certain steps. There is an empty seat at the table for too many of us, or a grandparent we can no longer visit, or who will be around to love and guide our children.

Underlying that we have all suffered the loss of faith in institutions we need to trust in order to have a civil society.
Ultimately, I believe that grief makes us more resilient and perhaps more attuned to others' suffering. Maybe less judgmental, more patient. It digs a deeper well of compassion.

For compassion is what we need to heal.

This poem by Kevin Anderson, Ph.D. from 'Now is Where God Lives' was inspired when a shocked and grieving person said to him a few days after a tragedy, "I need to get myself together fast."

Stay broken
Stay broken
open
Stay broken.
Open
the wound again and again.

Stay broken.
Open
the wound again and again
until it bleeds compassion for all.

Stay broken.
Open
the wound again and again
until it bleeds compassion. For all
who suffer, you are becoming a
wounded healer.
