Today I'd like to speak on a bit of a heavier topic, that of acknowledging, understanding, and striving towards overcoming negative addictions and habits. There comes a time where we all find ourselves fixated on something we shouldn't. Whether it's a bad habit, like poor dieting, or an addictive substance, like drugs, we can often find ourselves feeling bound to it. A chain with the sinking properties of an anchor, and the visibility of a chillingly eerie breeze, drowning us in a sea of unhealthy dependence. We find ourselves overwhelmed by an injurious habitual force yet often feel as though being crushed by it is better than moving forward without it, and it's painful; Both to endure, and to witness. One habit, one misstep, one substance, it's all it takes for what you previously thought impossible, to be possible. It's all it takes to lose control of understanding what is and isn't healthy, to lose the will to avoid what hurts you, by believing it's a need, and not a suffocating and ever-present looming desire. One forged in the fires of self-inflicted enslavement to compulsiveness, fronted as a necessity. So please, remember to take a step back and truly assess yourself, and what truly makes you happy and healthy. Hopefully someday, through self-sought clarity and care, we can all find the will to cut down the root causes of our bad habits and addictions and continue to strive to be the best versions of ourselves.
