The drive will run from September 1st through September 30th, and both monetary and food donations are welcomed! Any donations would be loved and greatly appreciated. Happy National Assisted Living Week! Our Gentiva Hospice team has hosted several events. We kicked off the week with one of our favorite annual events at Caretel Inns St. Joseph: a donuts and coffee breakfast for staff! Thank you so much to the staff at Caretel Inns for everything you do. We loved taking the time to celebrate all of you and can’t wait to do it again next year!

Our team hosted a Memory Learning Café this week at the Portage Zhang Senior Center. With 30 people in attendance, we had the Kalamazoo Home School Choir come in to do Christmas carols, chair yoga, and Christmas bingo, and we ended up decorating gingerbread houses! We had a great turnout, and all those involved loved it!

Over the last few weeks, our business development team has been busy participating in several fun community events! We enjoyed listening to live music and munching on tasty snow cones at the end-of-summer concert at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph. It was the perfect way to end the steamy summer season! We also set up a booth at the Cass County Council on Aging’s annual Health Fair in Cassopolis. With the help of our Volunteer Coordinator, we spread the word about the services we offer all over Southwest Michigan and promoted our hospice volunteer program. We can’t wait to be back again next year!

We hope you all had an amazing weekend celebrating Labor Day! In honor of this patriotic holiday, we wanted to shed light on an event we had earlier this year.

This past Memorial Day, our chaplain and hospice care consultant joined the residents of CrownPointe of Stevensville in an honorary flag-burning ceremony. This flag was properly burned and retired from service. The ceremony was beautiful, and many memories were shared by residents who had also served.

Thank you again to CrownPointe for having us. This was an incredibly unique experience that we will never forget!
