Location: Senior Living Community FLSA status: Non - exempt
Position Summary – Provide a brief summary of what the position is designed to accomplish and the scope of the responsibilities.
Responsible for providing services to residents. Services may include personal care, activities, housekeeping, dietary assistance and other assigned duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – List the fundamental duties of the position; there are probably no more than seven duties. Indicate the approximate percent of time spent on each function. Percentage of Time
1. Assist residents with personal cares and activities:
a. Dressing, bathing/showering, toileting, oral cares, shaving, nail cares, etc.
b. Other cares as indicated per care plan, ROM exercises, repositioning
c. Apply assistive devices such as hearing aids, glasses or other aids
d. Assist with transfers and ambulation using walking aids per supervisor and care plan
e. Assist/provide activities for residents and encourage participation
f. Other duties as assigned

2. Manage food production and meal service:
a. Prepare and assists with meals for residents.
b. Ensure food is prepared in a nutritious and appetizing manner.
c. Prioritize tasks and completes assignments within allotted time.
d. Maintain a positive image and adheres to all company policies.
e. Present a professional image by following attire and grooming guidelines.
f. Monitor the dining and kitchen area for cleanliness and safety.
g. Provide a comfortable dining experience and friendly service for residents.
h. Follow food safe and sanitation policies and procedures at all times
i. Follow special diet plans for residents
j. Assist with directing residents back to rooms
k. Assist with clean up after meals 15%
3. Overall observation of residents both physically and mentally while performing cares. Alert nurse to any changes i.e.changes in skin color, bruising, open or pink, red areas, changes in mental status, confusion, unusual behaviors 5%
4. Provide health care needs specific to each resident’s records, follow correct procedure and complete all required documentation to ensure delivery of care:
a. Administer medication per MAR (medication administration record) instruction
b. Take vital signs as directed by nurse or care plan
c. Check blood sugar using glucometer, test strips and lancet; document and report any out of range levels to on-duty nurse or on-call nurse
d. Assist with insulin injections by checking MAR; Using equipment properly and disposing of needle in proper container
e. Provide simple dressing changes
f. Check with director or nurse regarding any concerns or questions
g. Record actions and/or observations accurately as instructed in proper logs/records or electronic recordkeeping devices
h. Follow HIPAA procedures in all actions 20%
5. Responsible for household services in residential and common areas of laundry, emptying garbage, vacuuming, dusting, making beds and changing linens and other housekeeping duties as directed 10%
