Share in the Love – February Donation Drive

Throughout the month of February, we are collecting new personal care items to support Portage families through the Portage Community Center.

Simple, everyday essentials can have a real impact. Items like soap, paper towels, wipes, and hygiene products help meet basic needs and offer comfort, dignity, and care to those in our community.

Donations may be dropped off at Functional Health Associates at any time this month.

Thank you for sharing in the love and helping us support our neighbors.

Most people who feel stuck assume they’re doing something wrong.

But most of the time, they’re not.

They’re doing the exercises.
They’re staying active.
They’re putting in the effort.

If progress keeps stalling, it’s usually because the underlying movement pattern hasn’t changed — so the body keeps compensating.

This is the part most people never get shown.

After the Golf Show, one thing really stood out.

So many golfers are doing the work — lessons, practice, training — but still feel like something isn’t translating to the course.

More often than not, it’s not effort.
And it’s not even the swing.

It’s whether the body can actually support what the swing is asking it to do.

That’s the part most people never get shown.

Ever feel like you’re doing the work — lessons, practice, drills — but it doesn’t always show up on the course?

A lot of the time, it’s not the swing. It’s how the body is supporting it.

We’ll be at the Golf Show this Saturday, offering a quick movement screen to help golfers see where that breakdown might be happening.

Most golfers think power comes from strength.

In reality, speed leaks when the body can’t move and sequence efficiently — even with a good swing.

That’s what we look at. And this weekend at the Golf Show, we’ll be doing quick movement screens to help golfers see exactly where that’s happening.

Cold days have a way of exposing how our bodies actually move.

What limits most people isn’t strength — it’s movement quality.

This is the work we focus on in the gym: assessing movement patterns, refining how the body organizes itself, and improving how force is transferred.

Small changes in position, sequencing, and control matter — not just for performance, but for how resilient your body feels day to day.

We’ll be at the Golf Show at Next Level Sports Center on January 31st.

Trust in healthcare isn’t based on one thing.

It’s built through clear explanations, organized care, and intentional movement.

When care feels deliberate, the body responds differently — and outcomes change.

Confidence like that is developed, not accidental.

If an exercise hurts, it’s rarely the exercise itself.

Two people can perform the same movement and have very different outcomes.
The difference is usually the pattern underneath the movement.

Small changes in position or control change how the body is loaded — and that changes the result.

That difference changes the outcome.

Gym pain often follows patterns.

Understanding movement can help explain why pain keeps coming back.

When a back “locks up,” it’s usually a protective response — not a sign that something is broken or out of place.

The body tightens when certain movements or loads keep irritating the spine.
Other directions often calm it down.

The turning point isn’t pushing harder or stretching more —
it’s understanding which movement pattern your spine is reacting to and adjusting how load is applied.

That’s often when people say,
“This finally explains why this keeps happening.”

Stretching helps some backs — and quietly irritates others.

The difference is how your spine responds to direction, not flexibility.
