Join us virtually for a day of learning from expert speakers. This Spring, we bring you a variety of topics related to assessment and management of motor speech disorders, hearing, neuroplasticity and language access, aphasia, aging and multilingualism from a neural flexibility perspective, and the know-hows of returning to learn following a head injury in children. Hannah MacKintosh and Robyn Williams are both spending the semester in Portales for 501! 😋 Normally they live on opposite sides of the country, but after meeting online through class they ended up becoming roommates—and great friends.

The two recently had a craft night and made their own ENMU t-shirts… so fun! Today they happened to be in Albuquerque to catch flights home for break, and they took a little time to grab lunch with Dr. Wilson.

As Clinical Director of Communicative Disorders at ENMU, Laura devoted herself to guiding and mentoring her students with exceptional care and dedication. She instilled in them not only clinical expertise but also her deep compassion for clients and unwavering commitment to their well-being. Through her knowledge, leadership, and kindness, Laura profoundly impacted the lives of countless families in her community and inspired generations of students who carry her lessons forward.

A Rosary for Laura Bucknell, 65, of Portales, will be recited at 10:00 AM, Fri., Feb. 27, 2026 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. In addition, a reception in her honor will be held in the Zia Room of the Campus Union Building on Fri. afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Please come and share your remembrances with her family and friends. A formal service will be held at a later date in Michigan that will allow all of her family to attend.

Good afternoon everyone-

It is with a heavy heart that we are sending this email.

Our beloved Laura Bucknell passed away from this earth after a short battle with her health. She fought ferociously, just as she lived. In the end, she left this world in good spirits and largely on her own terms with her friends, as she was Laura and wouldn't have it any other way.

We will post memorial information as we receive it.

We know this comes as a terrible shock to you all. We're sorry to inform you via Facebook, but we wanted you to hear it from us directly. You students were her family too, and we fully recognize that many of you loved her as much as we did. Please understand that serving her students was always her utmost priority, and until her last day, she spoke of you all with the highest regards. She truly cared for each of you.
