Rest & Ritual will be participating in the blackout from Nov 25- Dec 2. This will not affect our clients’ schedules. Instead, we will pause our charges until after the blackout. As care providers, we must navigate how to act in solidarity with the working class, while still being available for the people who need us. Our office will make sure we don’t move any money during the blackout days, and encourage our clients to tip in cash or hold off on 3rd party payments.
As strikes and blackouts are increasingly called for, this strategic delay in payment processing will be one small way we contribute. We are also pausing our instagram activity. See you on the 3rd, and stay safe out there 💛

Amanda will be back from medical leave on Wed, Nov 12! They are our most experienced practitioner and have availabilities all the way up to Thanksgiving, so make sure to get your massage in before seeing your in-laws.
Amanda is our go-to Deep Tissue provider, but they also love being gentle with myofascial or orthobionomy, and are proficient with all our tools. Come in on a Wednesday or Friday!

“I am so grateful that Rest and Ritual was recommended to me! I left transformed after a one hour massage with Amanda, where my mental health and physical body were so thoughtfully cared for. Their trauma-informed, intuitive approach is amazing and I will return as often as I can.”
-Rachel M.

“Amanda is magic. I’ve had a lot of massages that feel like a routine. Amanda listens to the body, they find the spots that need attention and eases pain. They addresses the troublesome areas with expertise. I walked in feeling stifff and tingling in my hands due to pinched nerves, I walked out feeling far more relaxed, shoulders renewed and my hands feeling normal. Highly recommend!”

Karen has expanded their hours!
You can book them from 10-5 on the weekends, and 11-6 on Mondays and Tuesdays. You can book them (at least 24 hrs in advance) online through our bio. They still provide all your favorite modalities: myofascial, hot stone, cranio sacral, tuina, and their distinctive form of energy work. Come see what all the hype is about! They are most available on Tuesdays, booking is limited on the weekends.

Reviews:
“Karen is everything I’ve been looking for in a body worker: so very skilled, kind, affirming, and intuitive. They always find the culprit, have the perfect touch (not too soft, not too hard), and create a very comfortable space. I’m a fat person, and therefore have some additional needs: a wider bed, lots of bolsters and pillows, etc, and Karen always fixes me up just right. I’m so grateful to have found such an intentional, gifted person to work with!”
-Violet B.

“Karen is a natural born talent. Do not miss the chance to have them put their hands on you. I have been getting massages for 18 years and their massage is one of the best. They have magic hands and intuitively sense how to provide ease, comfort, and wellness. Profoundly impressed.”
-Dustin

Come see Laura, only on Thursdays!

There are some services only Laura offers, such as cranio-sacral therapy sessions at student pricing (even lower than our standard sliding scale baseline!) and neuromuscular treatments. Come in on Thursdays so you don’t miss out on Laura’s great work.

Reviews:
“When I get off Laura’s massage table, I instantly feel lighter. All the tension that I have been holding throughout the week suddenly disappears and I feel new again.”
-Brittany P.

“Laura has incredible intuition for find8ng the problematic hot spots, is a great communicator, and always asks for my feedback. I come in feeling stressed and leave feeling calm with a sense of renewal. It truly feels like Laura puts everything they have into each massage.”
-Drew B.

POV: you are an LMT who just came back in after your session, to see how the client is doing.

This one goes out to all the clients who get the post-massage sleepies. Sometimes you can feel light-headed or drunk! Folks with low blood pressure or problems with blood sugar should be careful getting up too fast.
One of the ways we know we did a good job is if our client’s hair looks like this, and they can’t string a sentence together.

Karen is stuck at the office for a few hours, so they’re gonna make it the timeline’s problem.
We do a lot of rib work here at R&R! Many of our clients end up having some kind of hypermobility, and ribs, with their cartilage in front and gliding joints in back, are designed to give way, shift, and break, instead of that damage occurring to the vital organs, kinda like car bumpers. It’s a little upsetting to think about! But this isn’t even the most disturbing rib-based revelation Karen has had…
(A starry night sky across a rocky landscape. White text says: ribs are just bumpers for the body.)

What’s a great way to get warm in the winter? A heated table and some hot stones while you get a massage with warming oils and heated hands !! Seriously, have you even tried it? It will warm you to your core.

This is one way we can use hot stones- place them on body parts that need some warm weight. We also use them with oil to glide and warm up the skin or sink into areas that need some pressure for tension release.

Ritual: smoke clearing with cedar

What rituals do you use to cleanse the energy in your space? Open a window? Spray some febreeze? Light a candle? Sing a song?

One of our favorites is using smoke from cedar bushes Karen forages on their way to work.

Chest work is some of our best work ✨ tech neck or poor posture? Let’s release the chest and the rest will follow. An open chest is a sign of vitality. We round our backs as way to protect ourselves energetically and physically. Opening the chest is an act of vulnerability, and so we treat it with the utmost respect. Thank you to everyone who trusts us with your chest work- we are honored to serve you.

An open chest opens you to endless possibilities.
