I'm a second time mom and I knew coming into this pregnancy that I wanted a better postpartum support. With my first pregnancy, postpartum was very rough and I got a heavy case of baby blues that nearly tipped into Postpartum Depression. I knew that I wanted my second postpartum experience to be different and supported. That was how I found Katie's Sweet Beginnings Doula Services via a google search.
Working with Katie has been a wonderful experience and is worth every dollar. I wish I had her support with my firstborn. She is very flexible with her scheduling and supportive for any first or repeat mom. Upon my babies arrival, Katie confirmed when she would be coming and when she arrived at my home. Katie helped with breakfast prep for the next morning, washed dishes and bottles, folded laundry, dealt with my rather vocal cat, befriended my nervous dog, all the while taking care of my newborn.
With my firstborn I was so anxious and sleep deprived that my milk supply did not become established. But with Katie's help, I was comforted to know that I could take care of myself. In addition to having a literal extra pair of hands to aid in the keeping of my home, Katie was very insightful in teaching us a new way of feeding our newborn. She introduced us to Paced Feeding. She always checked in on how I was doing and if I was experiencing any breastfeeding troubles. I was and she happily shared resources with me.
With our package, Katie spent a few hours one day a week during the daylight hours. We were able to spend time specifically with our firstborn which is so important when a new baby is brought into a home. Katie essentially became a part of our family. She was a steady presence in our home to the point my firstborn drew her a picture or asked, "Is Katie coming?"
Having Katie as your postpartum doula allows any parent the physical and mental ability to breathe and rest. I would highly recommend her to anyone with a newborn.
