This is the principle I come back to more than any other in my work.

Not because it sounds good. Because I have watched it work over and over again.

The women who push hardest in recovery are often the ones who stay stuck the longest.

Not because they aren't trying.

When you focus on the right things, in the right order, at the right intensity, your body responds.

When you scatter your energy across everything at once because you just want to feel better already, it doesn't.

Slow to go fast is not permission to do nothing. It's a reminder that focused effort beats scattered effort every single time.

If you're post hysterectomy and feel like you're doing everything and still not getting anywhere, this might be why. The free guide in my bio is a good place to start.

Healing After Hysterectomy is Layered.

It's more than your incision, though that's important.

All systems are connected.

If you're not feeling like you should by now, maybe my guide can help give you some clarity. Grab it for free: https://allisonpoole.myflodesk.com/5mistakes

Over and over, women come to me lost, confused, and unheard.

They thought it was going to be simple. A hormone patch, some rest, get back to their lives.

And when that's not the story, they're angry. They're frustrated. They're worried.

Some of them are months out from surgery. Some of them are years out. Some of them have been quietly managing symptoms they didn't know had a name.

That is why I show up every day. To be the person who takes the time. Who looks at the full picture. Who helps women understand what is actually happening in their bodies so they can stop wondering what's wrong with them and start actually recovering.

That's also why I created this guide. It is a place to start. Free: https://allisonpoole.myflodesk.com/5mistakes

Okay I have to talk about my kefir overnight oats because I am genuinely obsessed.

Oats, kefir, chia seeds, cinnamon. In the fridge the night before. Done.

Here's why I care beyond the fact that they're delicious: fiber is one of the most underrated tools for hormone balance in midlife. It supports gut health, keeps things moving (yes, I'm talking about your 💩), and your gut is directly connected to how your body processes and eliminates estrogen.

When your gut is happy, your hormones have a better shot at staying balanced.

I'm not asking anyone to overhaul their diet. I'm asking you to add one thing. This is mine right now.

If you're in perimenopause and feeling like your body is doing things you don't recognize, sometimes the smallest shifts make the biggest difference. Fiber is one of them.

What's the one thing you're eating lately that actually makes you feel good? Tell me below.

Women don't leave the hospital unprepared for surgery.

They leave unprepared for recovery because no one sat down and told them what was actually coming.

The fatigue that lingers longer than expected.
The emotions that catch you off guard.
The body that feels unfamiliar.

That's what happens when you're handed discharge papers instead of a real plan.

Recovery isn't just rest and time. It's knowing what to expect, what to prioritize, and what support actually looks like.

That's exactly what I put inside the Hysterectomy Recovery Guide — a clear, grounded roadmap so you stop guessing and start healing with confidence.

Before your hysterectomy, what did nobody warn you about?

Because in my practice I hear the same things over and over.

-Nobody warned me about the fatigue that lasted months.
-Nobody warned me that s*x would feel different.
-Nobody warned me about the brain fog, the mood shifts, the way my core just didn't work the same way anymore.

And the thing is, none of those experiences are rare. They are incredibly common.

Women aren't told about them in advance, and they're not given support to address them after.

So I want to hear from you. Drop it in the comments. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you?

And if you're still looking for answers, my free guide is a good place to start [link in bio]

Can we talk about sleep for a minute?

Not just "are you getting enough of it" but what's actually happening to sleep in perimenopause and why it feels so different than it used to.

Estrogen + progesterone both play a role in sleep regulation. As those hormones fluctuate, so does your ability to fall asleep, stay asleep, and actually feel rested when you wake up.

Night sweats are the obvious culprit but they're not the only one. Anxiety that shows up at 2am. Waking for no reason. Sleeping a full night and still feeling exhausted.

And that matters because it means there's actually something to work with here. It's not just stress. It's not just age. Your hormones are running the show.

Sleep is also not separate from everything else going on in your body. Poor sleep raises cortisol --> Elevated cortisol affects weight, mood, immune function, and hormone balance.

It is one of the most important and most overlooked levers in midlife wellness.

If your sleep has changed and you've been chalking it up to stress or age, it might be worth looking a little closer.

What does your sleep look like these days? I'm curious how many of you are dealing with this. Share with me 👇🏼

Same-day procedure. Laparoscopic. No visible scars. Home by afternoon.

And still, months later, not feeling right.

The size of your incision has nothing to do with the size of your recovery.

A hysterectomy affects your hormones, your pelvic floor, your nervous system, your sleep, your core.

None of that shows up on the outside.

The fact that you're still struggling doesn't mean something is wrong with you. It means you probably didn't get the support you actually needed.

That's what I'm here for.

I created a free guide on the 5 most common mistakes women make in hysterectomy recovery...and what to do instead!

Most women are wildly underprepared for hysterectomy recovery.

In fact, 1 in 3 women will have a hysterectomy by age 65, yet many are sent home with very little guidance beyond a few basic restrictions.

So I created a free guide: “5 Mistakes Women Make After Hysterectomy.”
It’s based on what I wish every woman knew before going into surgery and during recovery.

If you’re preparing for surgery, recovering now, or you’re still feeling off, you can download it at the link in my bio.

And if someone you love is preparing or recovering for hysterectomy, please send this to her. 💕
