Our February Book of the Month is “The Day it Rained Hearts”! Here are some ideas for activities to go along with this book:

🩷 Pick your favorite Valentine to make from the book! Whether it’s a heart necklace, cotton ball heart card, or painted heart, make your own version of Cornelia Augusta’s Valentines to her friends!

🩷Ask WH questions about the book after reading (“Who was the heart with holes for? “Where did Cornelia find the hearts?” “What holiday was Cornelia celebrating,” “Why do we give valentine’s cards to our friends?” etc.) to support your child’s comprehension of the story and encourage further discussion.

Our speech pathologists Erin and Michal had so much fun with the most recent Hanen group session a few weeks ago at our Beaverton clinic! This group is a child and parent group designed for children 2-3 years old with language delays.

We're already looking forward to the next session in April! If you think you could benefit from an evidence-based program developed by the Hanen Centre that teaches parents practical and effective strategies to help their child communicate within everyday activities, then be on the lookout for more information coming soon! We can't wait to see you there. 💛
