Last Friday, GPH staff from all 17 sites gathered for a picnic to celebrate National Health Center week with food, games, and raffles! It was a great opportunity to recognize the incredible team behind the care we provide to our community every day.

For National Health Center Week’s Partner Appreciation Day, we would like to highlight a few of our many community partners who help make our community a safer and healthier place. Shout-out some of your favorite community organizations in the comments!

Maine Needs is a community-based organization providing Maine families including our patients with clothing, baby items, back-to-school supplies, kitchen items, shoes, sleeping bags and tents, and many other essentials.

Community Doulas provides many of our patients with doula services, including labor support and community connections, to improve birth outcomes in Maine. With a sliding fee scale, they ensure all patients can receive doula services regardless of ability to pay.

Through our partnership with the Portland Housing Authority, we bring healthcare directly to public housing communities at Sagamore Village, Riverton Park, and Franklin Towers. Their efforts bring safe and affordable housing to our community.

Preble Street’s numerous programs and advocacy efforts improve the lives of those in our community experiencing homelessness. We partner with them on many projects, including our 934 Congress Street health center.

City of Portland, Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services goal to enhance the health and well-being of Portland community members aligns with our mission to bring high-quality, patient-centered care to all.

As we continue our National Health Center Week celebration, today's theme is Health Conditions Focus Day! Diabetes, Hypertension, HIV, LTBI, behavioral health, and maternal health are among the many condition-focused programs we offer to support our patients and community.

We were honored to receive 64 blood pressure cuffs donated by American Heart Association - Maine and Northern Light Health. Our team, including Anthony and Emma photographed, will educate patients on how to self-measure their blood pressure at home using these cuffs. These will aid hypertension diagnosis and treatment while empowering patients to take charge of their cardiovascular health.

It's National Health Center Week! Greater Portland Health is proud to be among the nearly 1,500 community health centers across the country providing health care services which are responsive to the communities we serve.

Today's NHCW theme is Patient Appreciation Day, when we recognize the role patients play in shaping our health centers. From our patient-majority Board of Directors to our community-based hiring practices to our patient focus groups and surveying, our patients and their voices are reflected in everything we do. Thank you to the over 16,000 patients who call GPH their medical home!

This week is National Health Center Week, a time to celebrate and raise awareness of the nearly 1,500 community health centers across the country. As a community health center, this week we recognize our staff, patients, and community members who make our mission come to life.

Today’s NHCW theme is Staff Appreciation. Best said by a GPH patient, “I remember my first appointment felt like home, and all the providers I met were very respectful. I felt my heart regain hope that I could live like others.”

On this Staff Appreciation Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to every member of our team. Your compassion, dedication, and care change patients’ lives every single day.

We had a great time on the mobile medical van at the Bayside Health Fair today! Preble Street hosted this event to bring providers, organizations, and community members experiencing homelessness in the Bayside neighborhood together for an afternoon of resource sharing, health care, music, food, and fun.
