Caring for the whole community since 2009 Greater Portland Health is one of nineteen Federally Qualified Health Centers in Maine.

Greater Portland Health's mission is to provide high-quality, patient-centered healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive. We provide a multitude of services including primary care, dental care, mental health care, chronic disease management, healthcare support, and counseling & education. We offer a discounted/sliding fee schedule based on family size and income. Greater Portland Health will never deny access to services for the following reasons:

- Because an individual is unable to pay for health care services.
- Because payment for those services would be made under Medicare, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
- Because of an individual’s race, color, s*x, age, national origin, disability, religion, gender identity or s*xual orientation. We serve the Greater Portland community through our 16 health centers. Our vision is a healthy community in which everyone has access to integrated, culturally-inclusive, affordable, and high-quality health care services promoting physical and emotional wellness. We are celebrating 10 years of our School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs)! Did you know Greater Portland Health has 7 SBHCs in Portland, South Portland, and Westbrook schools? SBHCs offer high-quality primary medical, dental, optometry, and behavioral health services during school hours, allowing parents to stay at work and students to stay at school.

💡Free HIV self-test kits and PrEP resources will be available from 10-4 at Coffee by Design on Diamond Street in Portland.
💡Join the candlelight vigil from 5:30-6:30 PM at Congress Square Park.
💡A free screening of AIDS Diva: The Legend of Connie Norman will be at the Portland Museum of Art on Friday, December 5.

Yesterday, Greater Portland Health hosted Governor Janet Mills, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, and community members for a roundtable discussion about how expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits would affect Mainers. Mainers could see health insurance costs skyrocket — some will be expected to pay tens of thousands of dollars in 2026. Our CEO, Ann Tucker, discussed how GPH will continue caring for community members, no matter their insurance choices

Last week, we celebrated Arts in Healthcare with patients, local organizations, and community members. Singing, storytelling, dancing, poetry, and a raffle for visual art created by staff and patients highlighted the power of creativity in healing and bringing people together. Our Story

Greater Portland Health is one of nineteen Federally Qualified Health Centers in Maine. We provide primary care and a variety of other health services. We welcome individuals with private health insurance, MaineCare, and Medicare, and we offer a sliding fee payment system for those without insurance. We are also a community resource for health reform and health insurance education. Community members can come to the Health Center to get health insurance questions answered, determine their eligibility for insurance programs, and get in-person assistance enrolling in plans.
