Meet Michelle, PT, DPT, LMT, CF-L1, USAW-L1, and owner of Centreboard Physiotherapy and Massage! I have been a Maine-Licensed Massage Therapist since 2009, completing the program at Spa Tech Institute in Maine shortly after graduating from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine with a Bachelor’s degree as Exercise Science Specialist with a minor in Biology in 2008. I then went on to complete the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Elon University in North Carolina and received my DPT degree in 2012. I have been a self-employed massage therapist part-time in my own space since being licensed and have worked with clients ranging from ages 13 to 75 and varying degrees of mobility and activity levels. I have held PT roles in various settings in several different states, from an an outpatient orthopedic and neurologic PT role with an additional focus on patients with amputations at UNC Hospital in NC; to Skilled Nursing Facilities in California and Northern Maine and finally to various Home Health PT positions throughout the state of Maine, pursuing my passion of helping people of all stages of life and health resume their maximum functional potential. I proceeded to complete the CrossFit Level 1 Certification in October 2017 and have held coaching roles at Beacon Community Fitness in Portland, ME and CrossFit Yarmouth in Yarmouth, ME since that time, further adding to my preparedness to help more people with achieving longevity and health. Most recently, I became a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach which will further improve my ability to help my client/athletes with improved movement patterns. I feel grateful that the roles I have in my professional life enable me to help others achieve health and well-being. I am fortunate to have the knowledge and skills to promote health by providing movement education and hands-on interventions to facilitate pain/stress reduction and injury prevention. The integrated services I offer have helped my patients/clients improve the quality of their sport and exercise participation and have supported purposeful rehabilitation in order to resume desired activities. When I am not working with clients, athletes, and patients, you can find me with my husband, Kevin, being active outside enjoying what the Maine seasons have to offer, from summers on the lake or on a paddle board, to fall runs and bike rides. I love spending time with Kevin and our dog, Sarah, in our new home and playing with my niece and nephews. I practice what I preach, supporting my own well-being with running and CrossFit workouts to build strength and feel good mentally, emotionally and physically. I feel passionate about the benefits that can be achieved with a successful balance of work hard/play hard with regard to my overall health. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your own health goals!
