Dear friends, I'm so happy to let you know that a wonderful 30-minute interview with Arny in the late 1980s is available to watch for FREE for ONE WEEK. I'm grateful to Jeffrey Mishlove (who interviews Arny) and his show "Thinking Allowed" for making it available to everyone. I remember going with Arny to this interview in San Francisco like it was yesterday!

It's a wonderful, wide-ranging interview where Arny gives a fundamental overview of Process Work and its many applications. He speaks about the concept of "process" and gives many examples. Arny is brilliant, clear, passionate, and demonstrates some of the ideas by following his own inner process. It was so lovely to be online with many of you tonight to celebrate Arny’s birthday and the new year. It warmed my heart and, I can sense, Arny’s as well. Thanks to everyone who joined from so many places around the world.

Afterwards, I felt moved to share a couple of Arny’s paintings. He began painting around 2004. I recall moments when he was working at his computer on a book or a seminar and wasn’t quite sure how to go further. He would often, then, take a break to ask the dreaming about the next steps.

Sometimes, he would get up from his desk and go into our little bathroom (which we had turned into his “painting room”). He would relax, let go, let his body be moved, and suddenly create a spontaneous painting -- often using a little children’s spin machine
I had given him. When the painting was done, he meditated on it and the message it was bringing him. He would then return to his desk with new ideas and inspiration for the next steps in his work.

He never wanted to keep his paintings, but I insisted on saving them and took photos. Here are two of the many I love --a small gift for the new year to all.

Thank you dear Process Work Institute for sharing this profound quote of Arny's which seems even more relevant today than when it was written in 1989. Though it is somewhat less known, "The Year I" is one of my favorite books of Arny's.

"Though we speak of rapid change and the coming of a new age, we are today on the verge of planetary extinction. We are still burdened by exactly the same unsolved emotional problems which caused our earliest ancestors to murder one another.
.. we hear daily about industrial and chemical spills, dying forests, poisoned food, water and air, and the threat of nuclear war. These problems threaten the very existence of the earth, and affect distant parts of the world we thought would never touch us.

None of us realizes the power of our own potential global awareness. That is why we project it upon the leaders of our groups, expecting them to create the world we need instead of developing our own ability to deal with ourselves and our groups.

We are surprised that the 'experts' who were going to save us also live in the same troubled field as we do and are, as a result, as unknowing as we.

Modern physics warns us that our universe is post-Einsteinian or, in other words, a space with 'no localities', where everything is instantly connected and where everyone's thoughts and feelings intermingle, creating a world in which hiding is impossible; we cannot avoid one another.

Ecology needs an extended meaning. In the Year I, we realize that nothing, not even fantasies, feelings or thoughts, can be thrown away because they no longer have anywhere to go."

I love this beautiful quote from Arny. I was so lucky to witness how he taught and lived this every single day of his life...and always will.

"Taoism ... became the central paradigm that I worked with, namely, that there are certain things which can be expressed--and those were for me analyzable experiences, and there was a Tao which couldn't easily be expressed - and that was this deeply unconscious material, the flow of things which you can't comprehend intellectually but you can accept indirectly through following signals from the body. ... My goal became not just to understand what was happening, but to follow the river."

Dear friends, I’d love to gather with many of you on New Year’s Eve to continue a tradition that Arny and I began many years ago -- meeting on Zoom to celebrate both the New Year and Arny’s birthday (January 1st), and to feel ourselves in community.
This will be the second year that Arny won’t be with us in his physical body. His physical absence still weighs so heavily and deeply on my heart, and, I know, on the hearts of many of you. Yet I also feel and know that his awesome and passionate spirit will be with us. He reminded us that we are not simply alive or dead, but an ongoing dreaming process, and that he will always be here. I feel this every single day and know he will be with us and “woofing” as we gather to welcome the new year.
During this short New Years Eve gathering, we will do some of the things we’ve done in the past such as dream about the coming year for each of us, find out who is the Tao of the new year, and celebrate Arny’s birthday -- though he never wanted us to do that! So typical of his immense generosity, he insisted that we not focus on him, but rather focus on everyone’s birthday in the coming year. In the photo he is opening his arms to embrace everyone on his 80th birthday! (thanks to Cathy Bernatt for the great photo!)

(from Amy) As promised, here is the second short set of videos of Arny (about 5 minutes long) that I showed at the June 10th gathering. I’m sure you will feel the way in which Arny’s teachings grow out of his utter love and awe of nature.
The first clip comes from an audio recording I found of Arny talking about using your processmind in the world. In the second clip he speaks about "being what nature wants you to be," and in the third video he talks about how he learned psychology from nature, and about the invisible powers that move us.
Once again, I’m so happy to share these brief teachings and Arny’s beautiful, exuberant spirit with you all.

Dear friends, (from Amy) on June 10th my friend Rhea and I had a touching online gathering with many of you to celebrate Arny and feel his beautiful spirit with us. During that gathering, I showed a few short and fun videos of Arny. This morning, I woke up and wanted to share the videos with those of you who could not be with us.
I began creating these videos many years ago. During our walks and runs, Arny would often speak about nature and process work with exuberance and passion. I had the feeling that these “talks” should not be just for me, but should be shared with others. So, I asked him if I could video him …and he agreed!
I have many videos and let my dreaming choose a few to share. In this first short set of clips (about 6 minutes long), Arny speaks about process work, how nature shows the way, how your life is none of your business(!), why we are here, and an adorable video where he uses one of my puppets to playfully explain his concept of the “processmind”. I will share another short set of videos in a next post.
The videos remind me of Arny's joyful, wise, and playful spirit and his absolute reverence for nature. I hope you enjoy them and will feel his spirit very close to us all. (You may need to turn up your sound to hear well. I added subtitles to help.)

Dear friends, (another message from me, Amy)
I am happy and amazed! After innumerable curves and detours since the Fall of 2023 when I first conceived of the idea to collect and create a book of stories about Arny, the book is finally published and available! The amazing thing is -- the book came out a couple of days ago on Arny's and my 40th anniversary (since we first got together)! What a wonderful gift!

I’m delighted the book is available for you to enjoy. And I'm so happy I was able to read many of the stories (and short introductions I wrote in the book) to Arny which he loved hearing.

I am grateful to everyone who generously shared their stories about Arny, Barbara Burkhardt for her wonderful editing and ongoing care and support, and Jerry Grant for his great work with the photos which were challenging due to their varied quality.

And most of all, I’m so thankful to Arny, the most beautiful man who inspired so many of us to tell our stories about him, and who continues to gift all of us with Process Work, and with his love, wisdom, teachings, playfulness, and so much more.

Due to a technical glitch many people were not able to get into the Zoom gathering on June 10th to honor Arny and feel his beautiful spirit with us. Luckily Hellene Gronda from the Process Work Institute recorded the gathering. You can view it by clicking https://tinyurl.com/3rk5rvzu . Because of the intimate and personal nature of the gathering, it will only be available to watch for a limited time, until June 30, 2025.
The gathering was hosted by me and Rhea. There is an inner work exercise to connect with Arny's spirit, and I shared 2 sections of very short videos that I took of Arny over the past 15 years or so. The videos have not been seen before and many of them show Arny's joyous spirit as he delights in nature and explains different concepts! I felt the videos would help bring Arny and his passion and joy even closer to everyone.
