In this meditation you feel your body relax as you rise tall. True relaxation requires a little bit of effort: in this case, rising tall to support your spine allows you to be able to drop your shoulders and feel your back muscles relax. Without that spinal support, your shoulders would want to tighten to try and offer their support. Their job is movement: your abdominal muscles are the appropriate muscles for the job of supporting your spine. Each has their purpose.
