EMERJ-SafeNow

EMERJ-SafeNow We emphasize self-care as prevention. Care defense, self-defense, but more.We understand the impact of trauma and violence on people and communities.

We understand that ending violence or abuse means addressing, over time, the complex interplay between individual, relationship, community, institution, and societal influences. These influences include the media, social media and the internet as well as unique, societal and cultural influences. Our Approach

Step 1: We collaborate and share information with communities to identify gaps in services, skills and resources. Then we strategize together to decide what actions the community wants to take to end violence. Step 2: After we establish goals we work together to create the approach, the specific ways to advance the specific strategy, such as socio-emotional learning, teaching self-defense skills, etc.. Step 3: We collect and evaluate data throughout the entire process to improve and monitor our strategies and approach. This enables us to determine what is effective in reducing risk factors and increasing protective factors. For vulnerable populations at high risk of assault or abuse, children, young adults, people who identify as a woman older adults, people with disabilities, marginalized communities and communities with limited resources, we offer a choice of strategies and skills.
