🧠 Alzheimer’s is now the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S.
And here’s what many people don’t realize:

🔬 Research shows insulin resistance and chronically high blood sugar are strongly linked to cognitive decline — so much so that Alzheimer’s is often referred to as “Type 3 diabetes.”

This matters because lifestyle is powerful medicine.
What we eat, how we move, how we sleep, and how we manage stress all influence insulin sensitivity — and brain health.

✨ The goal isn’t fear.
✨ The goal is empowerment and prevention.

If you want to be proactive about your brain, metabolic, and long-term health, we’d love to support you.

Fear will show up when you try to change.
That doesn’t mean you stop.

Let fear sit in the passenger seat.
Acknowledge it. Say hello.
But you stay in the driver’s seat.

This is how new habits are built.
This is how comfort zones are expanded.

✨ Small brave steps change everything.

As we step into 2026, I’ve been reflecting on just how precious this life truly is.
The moments that take our breath away…
And the everyday miracles we often rush past — the warmth of holding my husband’s hand, the sound of laughter in our home, the stillness of a morning sunrise in the Pacific Northwest, my Brittany-girl at my heels on the trail.
This year, I’m choosing to focus on one powerful idea:
Create health.
Not wait for a diagnosis.
Not fight from behind.
Not chase the next medication or miracle.
But create health — choice by choice, day by day.
✨ Because I want to hike in my 90s.
✨ Because I want energy, joy, clarity, and strength.
✨ Because I want to be a fully present participant in my own life.
✨ Because this life is short, meaningful, and worth showing up for.

Dr. Mark Hyman says it beautifully: “Don’t just treat disease — create health.”

And that’s my focus for 2026.

Here are 10 simple ways I’m creating health this year:

Breathwork + meditation each morning.

Daily movement for energy, mental health, and longevity.

A gratitude practice to shift my state and frequency.

64+ ounces of filtered water each day.

30 grams of protein with each meal.
Strength training 3x/week — so I can move with ease for decades.

Vegetables with every meal (color = microbiome love).

30-minute screen time limit & more reading.

Intentionally building community (at least 2 gatherings/month).

More hand-holding, connection, and presence with my husband. 💛

So I’ll ask you:
➡️ How will you create health in 2026?
What’s one simple step you can take today?

If you’re ready to start your health journey, we would love to support you — whether you’re feeling stuck, curious, or ready for big change.

From our hearts to yours:
Happy New Year. 🎉
Here’s to a year of strength, clarity, joy, and intentional living. ✨

12/30/2025

This year, one of the simplest and most powerful goals you can set is this:

✨ Consistency in movement. ✨
Not perfection. Not a rigid gym schedule. Not “I’ll start Monday.”
Just… move your body on purpose every day.
Snow-shoeing. Dog walks. Strength training. Dancing in the kitchen.
It all counts — and it all adds up.

Why this matters (science!):
Regular movement improves mitochondrial function (your energy factories), increases BDNF (hello better mood + memory), and enhances insulin sensitivity, which lowers inflammation and supports weight + hormone balance.
Small daily movement → BIG metabolic & hormonal wins.

So for 2025, try this:
🌱 If you wake up, move.
🌱 If you feel stuck, move.
🌱 If you want better energy, confidence, or clarity… move.

Your health isn’t built in occasional big efforts —
it’s built in the moments you choose to show up for yourself.

🦶What movement will YOU commit to this week?
Comment below — I’d love to cheer you on. 💛

And if you’re ready to build a plan that supports your metabolism, hormones, and health in a sustainable way, we’re here for you.

I want to talk about bone health—and why I jump.

I personally have osteopenia from early menopause, and instead of letting that diagnosis scare me, I chose to get educated and empowered.

Here’s something most women are never told:
👉 Most primary care providers don’t order a bone density (DEXA) scan until age 65, even though bone loss often accelerates much earlier—especially during perimenopause and menopause.

At Alight Wellness, we take a proactive approach. We assess bone health sooner so women can make informed decisions, train appropriately, and protect their long-term mobility and independence—rather than waiting for a fracture or problem to appear.

Impact-based exercises like jumping, when done safely and intentionally, can help support bone strength by challenging the skeletal system in a meaningful way. Knowing your bone density first allows you to choose the right type and level of movement for your body.

I’ve learned so much from Dr. Stacy Sims, who does an excellent job explaining how women’s bones respond differently and why impact matters.

🎥 Here’s a helpful video with Dr. Stacy Sims on jumping for women’s bone health:

Why do I personally do this?
For my family. So I can stay active, capable, and fully present in my life—not just now, but well into the future.

Strong bones mean independence.
Strong bones mean freedom.

Important safety note: Jumping and higher-impact exercises are not appropriate for everyone. If you have osteopenia, osteoporosis, joint concerns, or a history of fractures, it’s important to assess your bone health and work with a qualified healthcare or fitness professional before starting impact-based training.

💛 Please share this with a woman you care about.
