Last weekend our restorative justice team was proud to support a fund-raiser concert at The Off Beat (check out this fun all-ages establishment, aka Friends of Noise).
Why were we there? Through our restorative justice practice, we've been working with Emarrion Thomas, who organized and led the fundraiser. Emarrion was a responsible party in one of our recent RJ cases.
The purpose of the concert was part of his efforts (using his musical talents) to raise money needed to repair the harm he caused when he accidentally damaged their property. Emarrion (stage name: RambotheGOAT) and other young, emerging musicians he lined up for the concert gave great performances.
Emarrion and his brother perform a song about restorative justice that was written for this event! All in all, it was a beautiful evening—a perfect example of the meaningful potential that restorative justice holds. In terms of learning what it means to take accountability and meet needs of the harmed party.
If you missed the event and would like to contribute to help compensate the harmed party, there's still time: https://gofund.me/791befd6d
