Thank you to everyone who joined us at the second annual Legacy Oregon Burn Center’s Safety Fair & Chili Cook-Off!

Held during National Burn Awareness Week, this year’s event welcomed nearly 900 community members for an afternoon focused on burn prevention education and community connection.

The Safety Fair provided hands-on learning opportunities for families. About 90% of burn injuries happen in the home, and one-third of patients treated at the Legacy Oregon Burn Center are children, making prevention education an important part of the work.

A special thank you to Erin Horrax, educator at the Legacy Oregon Burn Center, and to the staff for their leadership, planning, and dedication in bringing this event to life.

We’re also grateful to partners, volunteers and first responders — including those who participated in the friendly Chili Cook-Off. ❤️

When the unexpected happens, expert and trusted care makes all the difference.

During National Burn Awareness Week, we’re sharing the story of Spencer Tejedas, who suffered severe burn injuries while responding to a residential fire and received care at the Legacy Oregon Burn Center, where he spent months recovering.

For more than 50 years, the Legacy Oregon Burn Center has been a trusted source of specialized burn care, providing critical services and support for patients and families throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.

As the region’s only burn center, Spencer’s story reflects the critical role specialized burn care plays for patients and families across our region and the impact of having advanced care available when it’s needed most.

Legacy Health is seeking volunteers to become Fall Prevention Coaches through A Matter of Balance — an evidence-based program that helps older adults reduce fall risk, improve balance, and stay independent.

This is a free, in-person training provided for volunteers who will help lead the program in their community.

For 150 years, care at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center has been shaped by innovation, compassion and community.

In 1922, Good Samaritan opened Oregon’s first maternity hospital, a forward-thinking approach that centered families at a time when most births happened at home.

That commitment continues today through the people who return here not just as patients, but as caregivers, volunteers and neighbors.
