NeuroCranial Restructuring® (or NCR, for short) is the newest and most powerful therapy in physical medicine. NCR is a cumulative treatment process involving controlled release of the connective tissue tensions - resulting from traumas - and a precise manipulation of the sphenoid bone in the center of the skull to unwind the body and return it towards its original design. NCR utilizes careful analysis of the body’s "proprioception" (patterns of balance) to determine the precise areas of the skull needing to be unlocked during each day’s treatment. Treatment consists of customized NCR bodywork - a full body, head-to-toe treatment - including external cranial work to prepare the skull to move. After proprioceptive testing to determine the areas of instability, the patient is positioned on the treatment table with the support of pelvic wedges and a cranial pillow, and a small endonasal balloon is inserted into the nostril, briefly inflated, and quickly removed. An NCR series consists of four treatments given on consecutive days. Each case is evaluated individually for the optimal long-term outcome. Repeat treatment series are usually scheduled between one and six months apart.

This is a great article on the impact of mouth breathing on our structural development, airway and more. Ask the nearest NCR doctor near you (see www.ncrdoctors.com) how NeuroCranial Restructuring® can help restore nasal breathing if you are a mouth breather!

Breath is life. It’s such a natural part of life that most people don’t ever think about it. For instance, do you know whether your child breathes through their nose or their mouth? Most parents do not know the answer nor do they have any idea of the many health consequences mouth breathing can have

Here Dr. Dean Howell (NCR developer) is featured on a live video interview with Peter Schenk of Modern Day Mystic. Dr. Howell enters about 10 minutes in (skip the first part if it doesn't interest you). Learn a bit more about about the fluid flow dynamics of the brain, and how NCR results in an improved cranial pump, which creates better brain function, focus, clarity, creativity, intuition and more. Learn more theory behind the method. Listen to Dr. Howell share many stories from his own experience about how NCR has helped with TBI, PTSD, post-stroke, duck-footedness, breathing issues, snoring, severe disabilities, severe anxiety and much more. A good chance to see the creator of NCR up close and personal. He's quite the character, too! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8bc-3bH41E

Our own Dr. Dean Howell, creator and developer of NeuroCranial Restructuring® (NCR) is featured on this recent interview on CoreBrain Journal. Listen to it and get a better understanding of how the skull works, what happens to it in brain injury, the philosophy behind NCR and why it is such a powerful treatment modality for TBI, PTSD, headaches, ADHD, depression, anxiety and a host of other conditions. Also, a little bit about Dr. Howell's FaceMax helmet and why it was developed. Dr. Howell is incredibly descriptive and a delight to listen to. This is a really awesome GIF that really highlights how the sphenoid bone (butterfly-shaped bone in the center) is the centerpiece of the entire skull! The sphenoid bone is the bone we are directing the therapy towards in the NCR treatments, and it is the most important bone to target because it is in direct contact with 19 out of the 22 cranial bones! If you want to make lasting change in the skull, you must affect this bone somehow....

"The beauty of human life in its unfolding.....this is a process that continues throughout life! Part of my goal as naturopathic physician, with the NeuroCranial Restructuring® work I do, is to restore any phases of development that didn't occur correctly. We are programmed to work a certain way, and these folding and unfolding patterns continue throughout the lifespan....we can harness them at any age. We are meant to become more and more, fully human." Dr. Deanna Simonson (inspired by a lecture from Dr. Darick Nordstrom)
