Annual Bags of Hope
It's that time of year when the Holidays start to consume our lives. (It's a good thing!) Yet we see so many that are less fortunate than we are. So I am planning another gathering to put Bags of Hope together, so we can spread the holiday love. We have had such fun in years past, many of you have been asking if we were going to do it again and YES we are. I hope you will participate, there are many ways to do that. Here are the details.
What are Bags of Hope? Well here's the way this works, you bring 25-30 items that may be of use to a homeless person and that will fit in a gallon zip-lock bag. I will furnish the zip-lock bags. We will gather on Sunday, November 24, at 1PM to put them together. We lay the items out on a large table and with a zip-lock bag in hand we gather about 6-8 items and put them in. You are free to take some bags for yourself to hand out to homeless as you journey around town through the holidays, or you can leave them and we will take them to a shelter. In the past we have sent them to Just Compassion of East Washington County.
We have done this the last 3 years with great success we put together over 500 bags during that time. Everyone wins, the givers and the receivers.
What to bring and how else to participate? Some of the items we had were gloves, hats, socks, combs, toothbrushes and paste, small mesh bags, hand warmers, and all kinds of snack items. That only accounts for a few of the items. I suggest to be creative, many items can be found at the Dollar store. If you can't make it to the event on Sunday you may drop off items at the clinic. You may also donate money to this event and I will shop for you. Any way you would like to participate would be wonderful.
