Classical Pearls is proud to be part of an international movement that seeks to honor and restore the classical origins of Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine is a highly sophisticated science and deeply spiritual art form. We believe in trusting what history has taught us – that Chinese herbal formulation is based on simple foundational principles that are often ignored or misunderstood in the construct of modern TCM education. With our formulas and the core educational concepts behind them, our goal is to preserve the true clinical power and efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine. Each of our remedies incorporates principles of classical formula design synthesized from the ancient texts of Oriental medicine and a variety of classical lineage approaches. Based on over two decades of clinical experience, tightly structured classical formulas have been combined and fine-tuned to the modern diseases of our time. It is our sincere hope that the study and use of the Classical Pearls series of products can help Oriental medicine practitioners increase their clinical efficacy and gain a better understanding of the time-honored principles of alchemical wisdom that are gradually being forgotten.

Perilla Pearls is designed to treat symptoms of throat discomfort and lung qi rebellion that often accompany external wind invasions. It is based on Suzi Lihou Tang (Perilla Disinhibit the Throat Decoction), an 18th century remedy with the therapeutic advantage that it is suitable for both the wind heat and wind cold varieties of the cold/flu. It is enhanced by the classical 2nd century heat phlegm formula, Xiao Xianxiong Tang (Minor Sinking into the Chest Decoction), which ensures that even later stages of the external invasions can be treated successfully.

🐍Serpent Pearls is a modification of the classical remedy Wumei Wan, one of the representative jueyin remedies in the 2nd century formula compendium, Treatise on Disorders Caused by Cold (Shanghan lun). Jueyin syndrome is the last and most complex of the six conformations outlined in the classic, generally featuring chronic, obstinate, and complex disorders characterized by multiple organ involvement as well as intertwined heat and cold symptoms.

Wumei Wan therefore contains all five flavors of the herbal spectrum, and combines both extremely hot/pungent and extremely cold/bitter herbs. While many different types of chronic disease processes can be treated via the jueyin approach, this formula has traditionally been used most often for the treatment of parasites. In recent times, the remedy’s use has been expanded to treat a wide variety of complex chronic disorders, particularly those affecting the digestive system.

🌿Cultivation of Huanglian (Coptis) in the high altitude forests of Huangshui in Chongqing, a region that has been traditionally designated as the appropriate terroir for this important medicinal plant. Like Sanqi, the cultivation of Huanglian requires 70 percent shade. The forest canopy and/or the tents are producing this kind of environment.

It's and this week were highlighting Glacier Pearls 💙

Glacier Pearls represents a constitutional support formula for smokers and persons with compromised lungs. Its design reflects a complex modification of the well-known remedy Yanghe Tang (Yang-Heartening Decoction), mentioned in the 18th century external medicine handbook Life-saving Manual of Diagnosis and Treatment of External Diseases (Waike zhengzhi quansheng ji) for its capability of dissolving “yin tumors.” The added anti-toxin and anti-mass herbs make it particularly suitable for treating and preventing accumulations above the diaphragm, especially in the lungs and other areas with lymph and mucous membrane concentration.
