The OHSU Department of Dermatology is a comprehensive team of board-certified dermatologists who manage all aspects of skin care, from melanomas and skin diseases to aesthetic treatments utilizing the latest lasers and therapeutics. Our providers’ expertise comes from their involvement in multiple missions, including patient care, research, education, community service and leadership at the local, state, national, and international levels. After a year + as interim chair, Dr. Alex Ortega has accepted an invitation to play for the Peru National Fútbol Team, expected to bring a steadying role to a team that has failed to qualify for the World Cup in back to back tournaments. "Missing the world cup is like an open wound for my country. I am not surprised they turned to the PG guy for help".

🔬 Our Dermatopathology team now offers digital Whole Slide Imaging (WSI), linking full-scale digital pathology images directly to patient's electronic health records. With quick access to the highest quality pathology images, OHSU faculty now have greater ability to diagnose, collaborate, research, and teach. It also lays out a foundation for potential future AI-driven workflows using image analysis tools. A huge shoutout to our dermatopathology team for leading this multi-year project across OHSU!
