A recent publication on the development of a patient decision aid for atopic dermatitis treatments was featured on the home page of Dermatology! The treatment aid was developed to create a simpler, staged approach to discussing eczema treatment options -- driving better understanding and more shared decision-making for patients.

The multi-year project was led by research fellows Wenelia Baghoomian, M.D., M.C.R., Mike Jacobson, B.A., Alex Chang, M.D., and Robyn Okereke, M.D., including contributions by previous residents Drs. Rachel Dunlap and Milie Fang, with faculty oversight from Drs. Eric Simpson and Erin Foster. Full article at our link in bio.

A recent bibliometric analysis highlighted Dr. Eric Simpson and OHSU for leading research contributions on eczema and JAK Inhibitors — ranking OHSU tied for 1st on Institutional Output and Dr. Eric Simpson as the 2nd most Prolific Author on the topic GLOBALLY! The analysis compiled research (2014 - 2024) specific to JAK Inhibitors -- a transformative new class of targeted, non-steroidal treatments for atopic dermatitis. Underscoring this research, several JAK Inhibitors have received FDA approval and are now widely accepted as effective treatments for moderate-to-severe eczema. Read the full article at link in bio!

Congratulations to Dr. Melissa Wong, who has earned the Rood Family Endowed Professorship in Cancer Research! This prestigious academic distinction comes after 25 years of research at OHSU, including her first 12 years in the Department of Dermatology. Along with her professorship, she serves as the Vice Chair of Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology - and still holds a joint appointment with the Department of Dermatology. Way to go Missy!
