Trauma Term of the Day: Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH)
SAH is bleeding in the space between two protective layers of the brain and spinal cord—an area that normally holds only cerebrospinal fluid. Because this space is so sensitive, bleeding here can be especially serious.

Sometimes called panda eyes or raccoon eyes. This is bruising around both eyes and is associated with anterior fossa basal skull fractures.
