From Drugs to Mugs

From Drugs to Mugs A picture really is worth a thousand words. The message is clear. Substance abuse will change your life in ways you never imagined.

Using before and after photos collected from jail mug shots as the foundation for this 48-minute documentary, the authors easily make their case. The shocking images, taken over time, during the jail booking process, are alarming. The photos clearly illustrate the stark and devastating effects of substance abuse. The program features interviews with incarcerated addicts and experts who encounter the impact of substance abuse on society in their daily work—law enforcement officers, a judge, an addiction recovery specialist and a deputy medical examiner. From Drugs to Mugs© is a drug education program designed specifically for classroom use and is a collaborative effort that would not have been possible without the input of many dedicated professionals. Special thanks to Deputy Bret King and Deputy Curtis Sanders who were responsible for research, development, and production. Revenue generated from the sale of From Drugs to Mugs© will be used to cover the costs associated with production and shipping and enable the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office to continue to provide educational visits to the youth in classrooms throughout the Pacific Northwest. Because of the graphic nature of the subject matter, we recommend this program for students 13 years of age and older.

Hi
I have read about that dvd program on one of our italian newspapers and I couldn't avoid to write some lines to congratulate with Mr. King for his great idea, I think sometimes media like tv avoid to show how bad drugs can ruin lives, in many movies characters who use drugs even look "cool" and this is very wrong.
I hope they will have similar ideas here in italy, congratulations again.

I just wanna say your message made it all the way over here to South Africa.... it's disturbing to see what these people do to themselves! ... I have to commend you for your efforts... There are a lot of influencing factors when it comes to kids getting hooked on drugs and one of the biggest problems is that it's socially acceptable these days! it never was when I was at school or growing up!"

I’ve been teaching Health for more than 20 years. It takes a lot to “”get to me” with the subject of drug abuse. Well, this did it! I got nauseous, cried with the judge, and honestly cannot wait to show this! Reality…and the concept of appealing to teen-age vanity. I am SO impressed...this is honesty to the MAX! I am SO glad I found you. Thanks!
