Kerr’s Inclusive Day Services recently had a fun and creative day at CeramiCafe Art Lounge.

Everyone jumped into designing their own mosaic art using glass tiles, ceramics, and all kinds of colorful pieces. The mosaics took the shape of stars, butterflies, and mermaids.

Experiences like this offer space to create, connect with others, and enjoy time out in the community.

Thank you to our supporters, whose generosity helps make community outings like this possible.

🌟 A big thank you to everyone who joined us last night at Lazy Days Brewing Co. for such a memorable evening!

Guests heard from 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧, who receives support through Albertina Kerr’s Supported Employment program and landed his 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘫𝘰𝘣 at Lazy Days. He shared his journey, what meaningful work means to him, and even introduced his own brew — 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭 — featuring notes of semi‑sweet chocolate and cherry. Sampling it together and raising a toast to Dean made the night especially meaningful.

We also appreciated hearing from Ryan Still, co‑owner of Lazy Days Brewing, who spoke about the value of inclusive hiring and the impact it has on workplaces and communities alike.

A special thanks to Cutting Edge Credit Union for underwriting this fun and impactful gathering.

After graduating from high school, Tyler chose to explore an interest—working in a commercial kitchen.

This fall, with support from his Kerr adult group home, he completed a 16-week culinary training program focused on hands-on learning, practical skills, and confidence-building.

Along the way, Tyler discovered just how essential every role in a kitchen really is.

👉 Read Tyler’s story:

After graduating from high school this past year, Tyler was ready to take a meaningful next step. Instead of rushing into something that didn’t fit, he chose to explore an area that interested him: working in a commercial kitchen. “I was testing the water with the food industry,” Tyler said. T...

Teens are often moody—which is why it’s easy to miss when something more serious is going on.

Depression doesn’t always show up as sadness. In children and teens, it can look like irritability, withdrawal from activities they once enjoyed, physical complaints, slipping grades, or pulling away from friends and family.

This article explains how depression can present differently across age groups—and why paying attention to changes in behavior matters when it comes to getting kids the support they need.

At Albertina Kerr, our mental health services support children and teens during some of their most challenging moments—providing trauma-informed, evidence-based care that helps stabilize crises and build paths forward.

If you’re a parent, caregiver, or professional who works with young people, this is a worthwhile read.

Late December brought sunshine and a first visit to San Diego for two individuals supported by Albertina Kerr. 🌴

They planned and paid for the trip themselves, spending three nights and four days in a rental home near the beach. It was their first time in the city, with time for sightseeing—and even squeezing in a visit to Disneyland, too.

They explored Old Town, took in the sights, tried new restaurants, did some shopping, and enjoyed plenty of time just being out and about. The pace was relaxed, the weather was sunny, and the trip turned out to be just what they hoped for. ☀️

Kerr staff were there to provide support along the way—helping make the experience possible while keeping choice and independence front and center.

A day of exploring close to home for 𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐫’𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 – Powell location. 👀🌿

The group kicked things off with a visit to 𝐎𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞—the towering wooden troll created by artist Thomas Dambo on the Nordic Northwest Campus. It’s one of those local gems that invites everyone to look closely and soak in the creativity.

Next stop: 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐞 for coffee, lunch, and relaxed time together.

These community adventures—art, fresh air, and shared moments—are what make Kerr’s Day Support Activities through Inclusive Day Services meaningful and fun.

Community experiences aren’t extras—they’re part of living a full life.

Time with art is a great way to spend a gray, rainy day. People supported by Kerr’s residential services recently visited the Portland Art Museum, exploring galleries featuring exceptional works by artists from around the world. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) were right alongside—supporting access, sparking conversation, and helping make the day feel easy.
