A chance to connect, explore options, and think about what comes next.

That’s what a group from Kerr’s Upskills program at our Inclusive Day Services experienced at a recent job fair hosted by INCIGHT at Warner Pacific University, where 20 employers were there to meet with job seekers.

Each person approached the day in their own way. They introduced themselves, started conversations, and asked questions like “Can you tell me about your company?” and “What’s the culture like?”

A little magic ✨ showed up at Kerr’s Inclusive Day Services Spring Fantasy Ball.

Adults supported in our group homes and Inclusive Day Services programs came together for an evening of music and connection. Some arrived as royalty, others as fairies and elves, and some came just as themselves. Everyone chose what felt right.

There was dancing, laughter, and plenty of moments that made the night feel special.

Kerr’s Inclusive Day Services in Beaverton recently welcomed some very special guests from Working Dogs of Oregon.

Participants chose how they wanted to take part, spending time with the dogs in ways that felt comfortable and meaningful to them. Some sat quietly and observed. Others reached out to connect. Each interaction happened on their own terms.

Moments like this reflect what person-centered support looks like, creating space for choice and connection.

April is National Volunteer Month, a time to celebrate the many ways people support their communities every day.

Recently, a group from Kerr’s Inclusive Day Services volunteered at the ReBuilding Center, helping with tasks that support the store’s day-to-day operations and ensuring materials continue to find a new life.

An egg-cellent day in Keizer. 🐣

One of the people Kerr supports spent time at the Keizer Inclusive Egg Hunt, presented by The Connection Club in partnership with the Autism Society of Oregon. It was a chance to be part of something fun, connect with the community, and enjoy the day in their own way.

Events like this matter. Everyone deserves opportunities to show up and take part.

Today is 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲! A time to recognize how autistic people experience the world and how society shows up in response.

Autism is a spectrum, meaning there is no single way of communicating, learning, sensing, or interacting. Each person’s experience is different. Too often, gaps in understanding create barriers in healthcare, education, workplaces, and everyday life.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. It means advocating for neuroinclusive policies and environments. That includes health systems that listen, schools that adapt, workplaces that value different ways of thinking, and public spaces that are welcoming and accessible.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬.

As March comes to a close, a reminder that 𝗗𝗗 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 is not limited to just one month. It continues all year.

People supported in one of Kerr’s group homes recently spent time at Bauman’s Farm & Garden, meeting local deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and exploring the vehicles up close.

Staff and those they support enjoyed the outing together, taking it in at their own pace.

Being part of the community means having opportunities to show up, take part, and experience everyday life.

That’s what a group from Kerr’s Inclusive Day Services repacked during a recent volunteer shift at the Oregon Food Bank.

At our Powell location, participants chose to spend the day volunteering—bagging 9,643 pounds of food alongside other community members and helping provide 357 meals per volunteer for individuals and families across Oregon. 🙌
