Al, a beloved public defender and later an administrative law judge in Multnomah County, lived with post-polio syndrome for years before a sudden decline late in life. When he began to weaken significantly his doctor referred him to hospice, though not with the provider that would ultimately make the most meaningful difference for his wife Helen.

Morning well spent at The Community for Positive Aging writing holiday cards for their members and volunteers. 💌

is a nonprofit, age-positive hub with a mission to create a healthier, more inclusive, and deeply connected Portland where adults 55 and older thrive through innovative programming, compassionate support services, and person-centered care.

Our team wrote over 190 cards today with the help of CfPA Volunteer Program Manager Kendra Barat. Thanks so much for welcoming us back again this year!
