African Family Holistic Health Organization The African Family Holistic Health Organization ( AFHHO) was created in 2014 in part by Portland's Swahili-speaking, community health workers (CHW)

AFHHO has provided workshops on healthcare navigation, focusing on understanding how to navigate a complicated healthcare system, accessing preventative healthcare, understanding how and when to seek emergency and urgent care, and breaking down barriers to access needed services in a timely manner. AFHHO also was one of few organizations to provide workshops on preventative health care during a possible Ebola outbreak among the Multnomah County's African refugee and immigrant populations.

You are allowed to be afraid and still show up. In fact, that is not a weakness — that is the most honest form of leadership there is. Ubuntu doesn't ask you to be strong above the community. It asks you to be
rooted within it.

A celebration of life is given. We’ve celebrated and continue to celebrate families here at AFHHO, through the Watoto Wetu baby shower, Cheers to our first 2026 baby shower of 15 pregnant moms , and grateful for the partnership with , HBI snd Multnomah county, our one and only decorator Aunty Nellie and delicious food by our wonderful friend Ummi and her husband Travis. We are ready for the next one!

✨ Wrapping up our final AFHHO Community Baby Shower of 2025 ✨

Last Friday, we celebrated 13 incredible moms — each carrying not just life, but hope, strength, and so much love. 🤍

This gathering marked the close of our 2025 community baby showers, and our hearts are full. From shared laughter to meaningful conversations, today reminded us why community matters — no mother should walk this journey alone.

Thank you to every mom who trusted us, every volunteer who showed up with love, and every supporter who continues to pour into this mission.

Here’s to motherhood, community, and the beautiful beginnings ahead. 🌱👶🏽
