Endometriosis is complex.

And while there is no simple fix, there ARE ways to support your body naturally, gently, and intentionally.

In Traditional East Asian Medicine, our approach reflects an understanding of how the body responds and functions as a whole, we don’t simply isolate the symptoms.

If you come to us for support with endometriosis, you can expect our team to approach your care with compassion, and they will develop a treatment plan for you that focuses on things like enhancing circulation, calming the stress responses in the body, settling the nervous system, and nourishing the body and it’s internal energetic substances deeply over time.

Here’s why these simple forms of support matter:

🙆‍♀️Movement- gentle, consistent movement encourages circulation without overtaxing the body’s systems.

♨️Warmth - helps relax muscles, promote blood flow, and reduce the constriction that can cause that intense pain.

🀄️Acupuncture - supports the whole body by modulating pain pathways, as well as helping regulate the nervous system.

🛏️ Rest- healing requires energy. Deep rest allows the body to repair and recalibrate.

🍜 Warm foods, teas, and broths- warm meals and fluids are easier to digest and support internal warmth and blood flow.

😮‍💨 Breathwork- an essential tool for relaxation and softening the pain-stress cycle

🧁Reducing inflammatory foods- lowers overall inflammatory burden to help take some of the strain off the body.

🥰Self compassion- because living with chronic pain every month requires gentle words and thoughts, not self-criticism.

At Six Branches, we don’t see these things as random tips- they’re part of a coordinated, individualized treatment plan. We tailor your care to your body’s unique needs, and your lived experience. Sometimes this may even mean helping connect you with a specialist by putting a collaborative referral in place.

Endo deserves thoughtful, multidisciplinary care. And you deserve to feel supported.

I sometimes wonder if our patients know this…

When you walk out the door after your appointment, our care doesn’t just ...switch off.

You’re often in our thoughts.

We think about the conversations we had.

About the things you bravely shared.

The problems you’ve been quietly carrying.

The decisions you’re trying to make.

We wonder if you slept better.

If the pain softened.

If that difficult conversation has been had.

If you’re feeling more like yourself again...

For us, patient- centred care isn’t just about acupuncture point selection or treatment plans.

✨It’s always about the sacred, safe connection between practitioner and patient ✨

It’s not just about listening, but actually hearing you.
It’s about holding space for the bigger picture of your life- not just the symptoms that you came here for.

This is the foundation of Traditional East Asian Medicine- treating the whole person, mind, body and spirit. And that means that your story matters to us just as much as what your pulse feels like.

Our team are here with your best interest in their hearts. So, if you’re looking for care that feels thoughtful and genuinely invested- we would be honored to support you.

Our doors are open to you 🤍

This , we want to amplify clear, evidence-informed education amongst our beautiful community — and validate the lived experience of those navigating chronic pelvic pain ❤️‍🩹

In Traditional East Asian Medicine, we view conditions like endometriosis through internal patterns such as blood stagnation, inflammation, and nervous system dysregulation- which is why treatment often focuses on enhancing circulation, reducing tension, and supporting overall systemic balance.

Research continues to evolve, slowly...

What we know for certain is that holistic tools like acupuncture and herbal medicine can be helpful for many with pelvic pain or painful periods. While they may not provide a cure for all endometriosis patients, for many they have been a meaningful piece of a multidisciplinary approach.

➡️ If you’re local to Maine and looking for an informed, collaborative approach to managing your pelvic pain, we’re here- and we’re proud to work alongside specialists through the Pelvic Health Alliance of Maine.

Get in touch if you would like more information and support- we’re here to help!

Stop trying to ‘push through’.

If you’re dealing with this level of pain and disruption to your life every month, that’s simply not okay. You may not have been told that before, but we’re here to validate your experience- you’re not being dramatic, and you most certainly need professional support.

In Traditional East Asian Medicine, we look at debilitating menstrual pain as a form of energetic and physical stagnation. Stagnation can manifest differently in each person, but put simply, it can look like:

- physical tension in muscles or fascia
- emotional stress or being in “”fight or flight”” a lot of the time
- overwork or over-exertion
- internal cold or sluggish metabolism
- inflammation from poor liver processing

When things aren’t moving well, pain increases. When we support warmth, circulation, and regulation, pain softens.

Some typical ways that we teach our patients to support themselves include:

🔥 Keeping the lower back and abdomen warm

🧦 Wearing socks (yes, really)

🍜 Choosing warm, cooked meals over cold or raw

🫚 Including warming + moving foods like ginger, broths, and steamed vegetables.

⚖️ Balancing rest with sufficient and consistent movement

🍩Reducing inflammatory foods and substances where possible

Acupuncture and herbal medicine work by identifying your specific underlying patterns- helping to address issues at the root cause and restoring balance over time.

And importantly- if acupuncture isn’t shifting the pain in a meaningful way, that’s important information that we take note of, and it may be a sign that we need to help you connect with the right specialist support.

Severe period pain deserves full attention. And you deserve proper support 🫶🏼

➡️If you’re local to Maine and looking for a holistic, informed approach to managing your menstrual cycle- our schedule is open and we would love to support you!

The honest answer: It depends.

In Traditional East Asian Medicine, care is layered and responsive.
This means that the frequency that you come to see us for acupuncture will change, as your body changes.

At the beginning, we may need to schedule your appointments quite close together- once or twice a week. We will advise this in situations where we need to get on top of acute issues like pain and inflammation, or when we need to create strong momentum for change.

➡️ As things begin to settle and stabilize, appointments can be spread out with more space in between sessions- transitioning from weekly, to monthly, and then eventually you will only need to see us as and when you feel like you need ‘top-ups’. Some people choose to continue with regular maintenance. Others come back during times of stress, transition or flare-ups of symptoms.

There’s no single ‘right’ schedule for acupuncture treatment- it’s whatever is going to support your body best, and what feels manageable for you practically and financially.

✨We will always work with you to create a plan that feels realistic, supportive, and aligned with your needs - not something rigid or overwhelming.

If you want to discuss what kind of frequency would work best for you, we would love to hear from you, and we’re always happy to talk things through.

If you’re thinking ‘this is me’- the good news is that there are ways to rebuild and restore Blood.

✨From acupuncture and herbs, to incorporating more nourishing foods, and simple lifestyle shifts.

Your body can be supported and guided back into balance, so don’t struggle alone. We’re here to help!

02/19/2026

How does that work!? 🤔

You come to see us for acupuncture to treat your back pain. But we don’t just treat your back... in fact we may not even put needles in the place where you have pain at all! So, what’s happening here?

✨ In Traditional East Asian Medicine, the body is recognised as being conncected energetically and physically by pathways called channels, or meridians. These channels are really lines of connective tissue (fascia) that carry information throughout different areas of the body.

These pathways travel from the upper body to the lower body, and vice versa- meaning that we don’t necessarily have to treat pain at the local site that you’re experiencing it. It can be the case that the most effective points for the job are located further away- like the hands, feet, legs, or head- where we can actually influence the whole pathway, gently and efficiently.

Think of it like clearing a road block further down the highway so that the traffic can start moving again...

This approach is called distal needling, and it allows us to:

✔️ reduce tension without overworking a painful area

✔️ still be able to help you even if you’re unable to lay down

✔️ influence the nervous system as a whole

✔️ improve circulation along the whole channel

✔️ support the body’s own ability to rebalance itself

It can be a suprising, and sometimes confusing, experience for our patients at first! This is why we want you to know that at Six Branches Family Acupuncture, you’re never expected to just ‘trust the process’ in silence.

We’re always happy to explain what we’re doing, and why we have chosen certain points to treat your issues.

✨Curiosity is welcome here, and our schedule is open!✨

Your comfort and understanding matters just as much as the treatment itself.

We hope to see you soon!

We hear this a lot..

And honestly, it doesn’t surprise us. But it does make us want to speak up and explain what’s usually going on when someone says that acupuncture ‘didn’t work for them’, because we live in a world of quick fixes and instant results- and acupuncture (or healing in general) doesn’t really work that way.

In Traditional East Asian Medicine, care is cumulative. The first few sessions are about listening, observing patterns, and laying foundations- not fixing everything overnight.

Our work involves supporting so many different aspects of your health, mind and body:

✔️hormones
✔️sleep cycles
✔️menstrual cycles
✔️digestion
✔️stress and nervous system regulation
✔️both chronic/long standing issues and acute ones
pain
✔️mental health
✔️recovery from illness or injury...

There’s so many elements to be found in one single person. and the body requires consistency and time to recalibrate.

With acupuncture, some people do notice shifts quickly. For others, changes unfold gradually. There’s no right or wrong way to respond to treatment. We go with the body, at your pace 🫶🏼

Acupuncture is rarely a one-and-done treatment, it’s a process that we build on session by session, season by season.

So whether you’re a seasoned acupuncture pro, someone that tried it once or twice, or a first-timer, we would be more than happy to talk to you about what realistic, supportive care can look like for you and your unique body.

Our Story

Six Branches Family Acupuncture offers a holistic approach to healthcare for people of all ages. Appointments at Six Branches Family Acupuncture may include acupuncture, massage, cupping, moxabustion, and/or custom herbal consultations.

WHY SIX BRANCHES?

“Six Branches” refers to the idea of six major acupuncture meridians branching throughout the body like limbs of a strong tree. In traditional acupuncture, the meridians are thought of as pathways in the body for the movement of ‘Qi’. We don’t completely understand this phenomenon in modern scientific thinking but there have been studies that have shown higher electrical conductance through the fascia along the meridian pathways.
