For our FreshZest Recipe Contest, residents and team members submitted recipes they love, and we narrowed it down to 5 finalists.

Now we’re doing it two ways:
✅ Vote here on Facebook by commenting the dish name
✅ Vote in person at our Open House later this week!

The winning recipe will be upgraded to FreshZest standards, featured on our menu, and included in the official SRG Senior Living FreshZest Cookbook! 🥗

We had a perfect rainy day adventure at the Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Minerals! Despite the simple name, this historic building is filled with incredible gemstones, glowing minerals, and meteorites (instead of grains of rice). Our residents were astonished by the massive size of the fossils and unique lapidary art on display. 💎🦕

The trash talk was real at this month's poker tournament! We had a full table split right down the middle with half residents and half staff, and let us tell you, the staff really thought they had a chance... 🃏

After some seriously tense rounds and lots of laughing, our amazing resident Melisa showed everyone how it is done. She walked away with the ultimate bragging rights and a well-deserved box of chocolates. Better luck next time, team SRG Senior Living!

Giving back to our local community is so important to us! Every month, NWP residents get together and assemble sack lunches for a local nonprofit that helps houseless individuals in our area. Our monthly social leaned all the way into "hygge," the Danish idea of "cozy togetherness," and it fit us perfectly!

We set out warm, snacky appetizers, plus drinks and dessert, added a “make your own Valentine’s goodie bag” station, and let a Spanish guitarist set the mood while everyone lingered and chatted. This is the kind of afternoon that makes you breathe a little deeper and stay a little longer. 💌🎶

We recently partnered with a wonderful local non-profit called Operation Nightwatch Portland. They have been serving the community since 1981 by providing hospitality and essentials to those living on the streets!

Our residents gathered to put together care kits filled with socks, toiletries, and snacks, and we ended up packing 60 bags to donate! It felt so good to come together and support such a meaningful cause. 💛

Our NWP crew took a trip to Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland and spent a morning up close with their steam locomotives, massive, all steel, and the kind of machines that make you stop and stare!

Two of them are still operable, which only made it better. We wrapped the tour the best way possible: pizza lunch in an old train car, because some outings deserve the full experience! 🚂🍕

Meet Jana, our resident “Master Puzzler!” 🧩

If you’ve been in the NWP puzzle room, you’ve probably seen her there... she’s in it every day, to the point it’s basically her room! Day after day, Jana has built up the kind of skill you only get from years of puzzling.

We’re lucky to have her setting the pace (and keeping us all honest when we swear a piece “doesn’t exist”).

Last weekend's plans were "written in the stars." 🌌✨

NWP residents enjoyed a live performance from the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra, Beaverton’s community-oriented orchestra made up of local musicians, founded in 1984 to bring quality orchestral music to the area through affordable concerts and education.

This program’s theme was planets and astrology, and it was the kind of peaceful afternoon that makes you pause and listen closely. Such a great way to feel connected to the community around us!

The smell of garlic and ají amarillo filled the room when Chef Bob started his latest Let's Dish demo!

He showed us how to press rice and beans into a savory cake before pan-frying it until the edges were perfectly crisp. One simple lesson in texture = a very tasty afternoon snack. 🍳🇵🇪
